New Mopar man up in this piece

Hi all, Im new around here. Forgive me as I dont have a pro tourer yet but I do drive my trucks and Barracuda HARD to say the least. Im 16 years old from Arkansas. As of right now, Im looking into a 72 Duster to buy for a DD and ultimately turn into a Pro Touring car. I have always been into the car scene and Pro Touring seems to combine everything I like for the street.

I need some help though, I have a budget of about 2000 for mods. Im thinkin some 18" American Racing Rebel B wheels with 255s up front and 305s out back, then put on some good brake pads, find some rear disc brakes for it. Upgrade all the lines to stainless steel, put on a polyurethane bushing kit then lowering it down a good bit. On the engine Im goin with a 360 longblock, 340 port matched heads, a Edelbrock cam/intake package, 600 Holley and some 3.55 gears. Then some good bucket seats, and go from there. Whaddayall think?

I think your budget is blown.

I think you need to think in depth about the incidentals.
You speak of poly bushing kit, what about Ball Joints, Tie Rods, and all the other stuff that is going to need to be replaced, just to get the bushings done.

I think you have a good plan of attack, and your goals are reasonable, but not on 2K IMO.

Get it roadworthy, safe, and legal. Then start on the modifications.

First off - Welcome. It's great to see another Mopar fan in the mix.

BacktoBasics is right - your budget is blown and he is correct about getting it road worthy and safe. Brakes are key on the A-Bodies - Master Power makes a great retro fit kit for the rear and you can swap the '73 and up stuff for the front. Check the archive sections of Mopar Action and Mopar Muscle for all there tech articles.

      Have fun!
