Doug's Headers - Does Not Clear Power Steering Box

Well... This is basically a post to throw a thumbs down for Doug's headers. I have a 67 Camaro Big Block 4spd. I bought a set of Doug's headers hoping they would clear the power steering box and sure enough they DO NOT clear the box. I am going to have to yank the engine back up, remove the header, and pull out the ol' sledge hammer.

My previous Camaro I had a small block and went with Hooker Super Comps. I have the same exact problem with the Hooker's - they didn't clear the PS box.

I am not sure how hard it is for header companies to make the darn tube fit, but it's a little frustrating spending a decent amount of money on coated headers to bang them with a sledge hammer to make them fit.

Headers are a PITA.

Is a big block original to the car, and are the engine frame stands big block as well?

2yellow69 went through this same thing with the dougs. After looking at my identical setup he determined that the engine mounts were wrong. Try a set of energy suspension poly mounts.

Or you might need BBC frame stands.

Shhhheeeeeiiiiiiit... I never thought about the frame stands. The car was an original SB car, but the previous owner had a BB in the car so I assumed they were BB stands - we all know what assuming does...

Well I ended up getting the engine in. Took 4 times of dropping it in and pulling it out. Most of the problem was the new lakewood bellhousing. The clutchfork was too close to the firewall so I massaged the firewall a little (sledgehammer).

After the bellhousing clutchfork finally fit it was on to the headers... Bang Bang Bang to a couple tubes on the headers and finally the engine dropped into place.

Yep, I will take the n00b card on this one.
