      Wilwood install question

I started installing my Wilwood brake kit last night and can't get the caliper to center on the rotor. The rotor passes through the caliper diagonally. I'm guessing it's a mounting issue with the adapter bracket. I used the washer(s) specified by Wilwood's instructions (wondering why they were needed, but wanted to follow the instructions). This makes the bracket face diagonal to the rotor face. It's not parallel to the rotor like you'd think it should be. My car is a factory drum car, so I used the hardware for a drum spindle to mount the caliper. The variance isn't huge, probably 1/16" - 1/8" What's considered acceptable?

I think I understand what your problem is becuase it sounds like the same problem I had. When you bolted your mounting plate to the spindle you had to use a washers (on each bolt) in between the mounting plate and the spindle. You may have to remove one of them to square the plate to the rotor. This is how I corrected my alignment issue.

If that's not the correct solution let me know as I have installed several kits already on a 69 camaro and came across several issues.

Shimming fixed calipers is a standard practice. Let me find a link for you... There is a company that sells a pack of shims specifically for this purpose.

I was mainly curious about the bracket not being square with the rotor. I assumed it should be and wondered why the washers were "needed" according to Wilwood instructions. I am going to try to square up the caliper to the rotor as close as I can first using the supplied "shim" washers before disassembling everything to try and square up the bracket to the rotor.
