Hiding the cage on a hardtop

Ok, I know this is a dumb question, but I have a '64 Chevelle, hardtop, so, there is no B pillar to cluster up the view of the sides of the car. The issue is that I'm pretty much gonna need to cage it, but want to try and NOT run the main hoop. I realize that it is the backbone of a full cage, but wondered if anyone has tried to use better than DOM or chrome moly to try and accomplish something like this. Thanks guys
