      1965 malibu rear tires

ive looked on this site and on what seems like all the other sites on the internet and i just cant find a difinitive answer to my question. maybe you guys can help.
heres the deal...ive bought a 1965 malibu that has yet to arrive from cali and i want to stick some wheels and tires on it asap. i have a good deal from a local rim shop that can hook me up with some 15x10 welds and i have a set of bfg drag radials sized 325/5015. i know they wont fit without minitubbing and thats ok as i can do that. i just dont know if they will fit in there without moving the frame rails inward which i would rather not do. the overall width of the tires on a 10" rim sidewall bulge to sidewall bulge is 13" and the overall tire height on the rim inflated is 28". if anyone has any help with this i would greatly appreciate it. thanks

thats a wide tire with the bulge in consideration. That frame is going to have to change location. It be easy to answer if it was 17+ sized.

i was hoping that i wouldnt have to move the rails. i guess its time to either learn how to move framerails inward or step down to a tire size that will fit with just a mini-tub. btw, any idea how far in on both sides i would have to move the rails, and if the stock gas tank can stay in the car? most likely not right?

I have a 64 chevelle with 315/17/35 AND 17/11 rims. I moved my frame rails in 2 inches per side. Yoe end up moving 1 set of body mounts. I notched a new stock tank. I also narroed the rear end 2 inches plus you relocate the bottom control arm mounts on the rear end. It is a big job and you also should to remove the body from the frame to do a proper job.

Would notching the frame be an option if he only needed less than an inch?

yes, when you take tire side wall flex and suspension articulation into the equation.
