Sealing the gas tank sending unit?

I am installing a Rick's sending unit in a Rick's tank. It comes with a cork ring gasket and 5 allen bolts. Do I use any silicone on the cork gasket or install dry? I was thinking of just adding gasket sealer to the cork?

i didnt on mine but i could have been in the wrong... i remember reading the instructions that came with my kit (i fabbed up my own tank) and i dont remember needing sealant for that. If you do decide to seal it make sure to get a sealant made for gas, i think i got mine at the local parts store

Thanks for the reply Wayne. I just finished it about an hour ago.

I did end up putting on some "gasket sealant" that is impervious to fuel. I figure it can't hurt...at least I hope not!

Dry, - the cork should seal just fine by itself. Valve cover gaskets the same way. The only danger of sealant is it lubricates the cork and may allow it to move or squeeze out when tightened. This is more of a problem with valve cover gaskets or especially intake mainfold center seals. There are not many sealers that resist fuel. Permatex #2 or #3 do.
