I need some simple help
I'm looking at getting two new rear wheels for my car. Right now the rear has 15x7 with 3.5 inchs of backspace. I want a 8 inch wide wheel in the rear, but there is no room for the wheel to go towards the fender lip and there is two inches of room between the widest part of the tire and the inner fender lip. Am I right to think a 15x8 with 4.5 inches of backspace will work perfect?

Even though your fenders have the room, you will want to 2x check that the brake caliper has the room too (if you have disc brakes in the back).
I just went thru the same issue with my 64 C10 truck. With 12" rotors on a 15x8 rally wheel, 4" b.s. worked for me. I wanted 4.5" b.s., but the caliper interfered with the back section of the rim.Rick
