I've been looking for some new wheels for my cutlass.. 5x4.75(5x120.65mm) And stumbled upon some bmw knockoffs... that are going for cheap....them being 5x120MM....



So.. the question is... does the .65 mm make a differece? the guys who im trying to buy it off.. seem to think it'll put too much stress on the studs... :bsjerk:

I don't see the thickness of a piece of paper being that big of a deal...



but he did also says that using spacers will mess up my backspacing...And make the wheels stick out of the wheels wells... Never knew that g bodys can run 5.5 inches of backspacing... >.<

Not it will be fine. I have a modified valve grinding cone that I use to open up the hole a tad. Make sure you check the wheel torque often.

Your only talking aboyut a 0.012" at each hole being off just use a torque wrench and a star pattern and go in steps.

I know of quite a few guys running BMW wheels on GMs.. Never heard of a problem.

I have BMW wheel's on my chevelle and have made a lot of road trip's and not a single problem. Last year's trip's total about 7500 mile's.

depending on the backspace of the wheels you will have to run spacers, just make sure to get hubcentric spacers and you will be fine.

ive heard of people having studs shear by running wheels .65 mm off on s10s (also 4.75 pattern) so personally id never do it, but as for stories. iv heard people lose wheels with stock wheels... so i dunno if its due to the .65 diff or not

I've heard the same. Could be just from not keeping them properly tq'ed. Im not exactly sure what BS your gbody needs, but I do know its closer to a low/zero offset like our dimes,(probably 4.5"ish on an 8" wheel) vs the 5.5" BS(or whatever high offset that Ive seen every bmw wheel have)

You didnt mention the wheel width, or the diameter. Im gonna bet your gonna need a spacer to make them fit properly, and not so far in you have like 1/4 of your turning radius. Id say your gonna need to push the wheel out atleast 1". So, if thatd be the case, you might as well run an adapter. NOBODY's gonna recommend a spacer that is that thick.

I ran a 18X9.5 with a 5in backspace on my grand national with no problems. I did have to use a 3/8 spacer on one side though. The rearends aren't neccesarily square in all cars. 4.5 is a safe and trouble free backspace.

I have a set of Rondell 58 wheels in the BMW 120mm pattern. In test fitting to my 86 Cutlass I've noticed that the center hole on the wheel is slightly smaller that the front hub. If I didn't need a wheel adapter then I'd most lightly need to have the hub turned down a bit. I have measured it but I can't remember the differance. The reason for me needing adapters are my wheels have a 5.25" bs (13 mm) on 8.5'' wheel. I haven't tried them on the rear yet.

Use a hubcentric ring, properly torque the nuts in the appropriate sequence and you're good to go. Wheels under my Camaro are also 5x120mm and there are quite a few more of them running around, never heared of a problem due to being .325mm out per stud.
