You are correct, it wasn't a promo pic but I have seen one several times but I can't recall where. I will look it up and post the pic when I find it.

I made my own brackets. The compressor I am going to use is from a 1996 Impala SS. I have a LQ9 engine with the 98 corvette waterpump and a LS6 intake. I can send people the drawings I used. Everything was made from 1/2" aluminum and 1" aluminum tubing for spacers. My email is [email protected]

I just posted something the other day, but I will post it here too so forum members can do a side by side comparison.

The body of the prior post is below:
Has anyone seen/used this set up before? Any opinions?

It relocates the AC compressor from the stock location that interferes with the front cross member on the first gen Camaro's (and many others).

For those that want to keep all the stock GM brackets and only want to relocate the AC compressor, this might be a solution. Might be an inexpensive solution to the LS1 and LS2 engines you find at the salvage yard and want to drop into a 60's or 70's muscle car. Most motors from the salvage yard already have all the accessories already installed, just need to relocate the AC.

My concern is the 2 pulleys before and after the AC compressor. Does it look too tight for the tensioner to move?

FYI: I also got an email response from the manufacture about my question of possible clearance/movement issues with the tensioner pulley. His response is below.

about your concern about the tensioner travel. It is free to move over its full range. With no belt, the two pulleys look pretty close, but they don't touch. The Corvette tensioner is slightly different than the Camaro, and isn't quite so close. With the belt installed, everything is a comfortable distance apart.

I am also interested in this. I had a Sanden setup on my vintage air only to remove it when I went to a serpentine on my gen 1 setup. It would be nice if they had a similiar bracket for the stock a/c compressor. Having gone through this before I am almost ready to notch the frame but have been searching for the best setup to use with factory accessories.

Man I was bummed as I read through there & saw it was only for LS Vette accessories...... Then I kept reading all the way to the end & noticed that only the item in that as was for the Vette LS accessory drive. They offer one of these for the truck accessory drive system too.

I think I'll place an order on Tuesday. That will solve my LS compressor w/aftermarket air issue & not kill the bargain the drivetrain was bought for (having to get a March serp system would have added a lot to the cost & they're the cheapest set-up that's looks decent).

      Thanks for sharing the info!

Is that a rhetorical question????? Just kidding. I agree Billet Specialties has a great setup, however I just wanted to move the AC compressor to a location it would fit. I'm happy with the factory accessories I have and I don't think Billet Specialties sells only an AC relocation bracket, you have to buy the whole accessory drive system. So far I'm happy with the bracket I have. Only time will tell. Larry

I bit the bullet and ordered a Synister kit. The A/C from my 98 LS1 wouldn't even bolt to the engine with TD swap plates, and I wanted the A/C hooked up. I didnt have it hooked up on the LT1. PLUS, I didnt want to have to make super goofy headers for the turbo. I wanted to keep those simple and fairly straight. This kit is awesome! I got the black anodized kit. The belt is forward from the stock kit only about the width of the serpentine belt itself. If I had to do it again, I WOULD!!

One set-up not yet mentioned is to use S&P pulleys on the factory Vette stuff. I've got an LS2 Vette engine going into a '68 Camaro Convertible with an Art Morrison sub-frame.

I wanted to use the factory Vette stuff and add the Sanden 508 in the factory location (low passenger side). This allows me to "bundle" the AC and heater hose lines and route them between the fender and apron... out-of-site!!!

The problem is the Vette accessories are ~3/4" closer to the block and the Sanden won't clear the motor mount (the compressor is on its own belt). S&P makes a bracket and pulleys that move everything onto the main belt. Add billet pulleys for the tensoners, P/S pump, alternator, crank and water pump and you're good to go! Polish the factory Vette Alternator, P/S pump, bracket and whala... bling for far less than one of the above. S&P makes some nice stuff although they are quite proud of it too! I'll probably have ~$650 into the billet pulleys.
