      Project "Rubbed Raw" 68 Camaro

Here is my original thread that I start about a month ago. I started a new thread because I now have a name for the car. My finger tips are rubbed raw from all the grinding, sanding, and scrubbing trying to get the liner off my hands.
      https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=38661

I have since taken everything off to be powdercoated, so I though it would be a perfect time to coat my undercarriage. Then entire process of undercoating took alot longer than I had expected, I worked on it about 12 hrs both Sat. and Sun. I first cleaned up all the welds from the floor pan swap, primed, seam sealer (Lord Fusor), prep wipe, sanded, tacky cloth, and then coating (U-Pol Raptor Liner) . It took me longer to clean my dang hands then anything else, I have used hand cleaner, gas, mineral spirits, and just about anything else and they are still coated. Here are some pics.

      Materials

      Up on engine hoists

      Before anything

      Taped off, primered, and sealer

      Close up of texture

      Finished

Thanks K5Cruiser, it was the only thing we could think of without having to come back and do some touch up work where the jackstands were. The two bottom straps that are crossing and going down are connecting to the hoist's legs so the car would not swing for swivel. It actually worked very well and was very stable.

Hey Mike, it was Mickey Tessner he is off of 240 and Eastern. If you need some work I can get you his number, but he has a pretty long waiting list right now.

Ya I had it on my face, in my hair, in my ears, and all over my dang hands. I was so cautious before I started sparying, I thought I had all my ducks in a row. But, I forgot my dang latex gloves.

I have a garanteed stall in a shop in El Reno right now. I might bring someone in house once I am comfortable with work load. I actually hired a helper last week for paint and body work so we are growing. I need to come see your car anyways. Pm sent

Dustin, you are doing a great job, everything looks good. Have you decided what you are doing in the trunk? And thanks for not letting my metalwork rust for years setting in bare metal in the red mud !!!

Yes, trunk and interior floor pans are goning to be sprayed with the same stuff and then covered with sound deadner. Mickey you need to introduce yourself to Mike (MuscleRodz); he is the guy who posted right above you, sounds like he might be need some metal work. Also, you need to get some floor pans in your car, and I will come shoot your undercarriage for you. I should have enough left over to do yours also, you could even consider me free labor since you hooked me up with Ernies number for that BBC502 and I probably you owe you for some other time. By the way this undercarriage wouldn't look half as good if it wasn't for you wonderful craftsmanship .

The car looks good. How much U-Pol Raptor Liner did you need? Also, did you need to buy a special gun to apply it?

The u-pol raptor comes in a kit, with 4 bottles of liner, 1 bottle of hardner, and a shultz gun. Most guys use one kit to do their undercarriage, interior, and trunk. I used 3 out of the 4 bottles to do just my undercarriage. You can buy the kit for about $100 bucks. I sprayed mine at 55psi with an average hobby size compressor, the higher the psi the less textured you will have.

Well I just got my rearend, subframe, 4 link bars, spindles, and center link back from the powder coaters. I am very impressed with the quality, I really like since it was free. I am also finished seam sealing the interior floorpans. I will probably start assembling the front end and spray the interior floors with the Raptor liner at the start of next week. Here are some pics sorry the new coated parts are stil dusty. I went with a semi gloss black.
