      New G-body member

Hello all, I just found the forum yesterday so I haven't had a lot of time to read old post etc. But I will be building a 1985 Buick Regal at some point in the future and think I would like to go the "pro-touring" route with it. It currently has a locked up 3.8/th200 in it but it will soon have a stock Buick 455/TH400 to make it a driver.

If you guys could point me in the right direction with the build I would appreciate it. I want a good handling car, it has to be 455 powered and I would eventually like to have a 6 speed manual behind the 455.

What are some good sites/old posts that discuss G-body mods? Do G-bodies have good potential for Pro-touring builds?

Look forward to asking questions and sharing my progress.

Welcome aboard! Yet another g-body owner. I am myself building a Cutlass.

You mentioned wanting to go 6 speed. What I did with mine is go with the aftermarket T56. It will bolt up anywhere a 3-4 speed was. I went with mechanical clutch linkage on mine...I didn't care for the hydraulics. 3rd gen f-body pedals are almost a bolt in. Just find a flywheel and bellhousing for the Buick 455, add a matching clutch/pressure plate for the fw/bell housing and bolt it up. You'll need to shorten your driveshaft or have one made.

That's just one option among the many. If you want more details let me know.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Unfortunately I won't be putting much $$$ toward my Buick for a little while, I've got to at least get the 63 up and running and road worthy. But look forward to lurking around on the site and learning in the mean time.
