New car...and I do mean NEW!

Hi guys...I've been somewhat detached for quite some time from the forum, from my former home, and very importantly from my Firebird! jeje But it is all for a great reason...I've been working for a race team in Europe and myself together with some other engineers have been working on a new sports car built from scratch. Not in a PT vein at all but I thought you guys might be interested anyways. Today is the public unveiling of the project so I can let the cat out of the bag now. Some of the stuff we are going to be using would be sweeeet on my Firebird!!

So wadda guys think? Any and all comments are welcome!

Nope...F3 and GT. We came in second the year before in the European GT championship with a Mosler MT900. Oh and one of the F3 drivers here used to be Marc Gene, test driver now for the Ferrari F1 team. Why do you ask?

I take it that's a smaller scale model of the actual car. Looks pretty cool.

Cause in that picture it looks like a 1/10th scale r/c car.

It is a very cool looking car. I bet it was a blast to work on a project like that.

The pic of the car has certainly been imposed on that background.

Cool design, kinda has a Lotus meets Acura NSX feel to it.

Guys guys...settle down! haha! Yes, it is a render, I thought that would have been obvious, hence I didn't mention that it is. Don't recall hearing any complaints or "comments" about renders when they have been shown on here before...

I wrote that very quickly before leaving work so I didn't post any details. By the way, imtheonlyreal1, theres pleeenty of cars unveiled as models, many cars you see at shows, even the full scale ones, are just mockups. They are put out there to gauge public reaction to certain details before the car is completely built. We already have all the funds needed for this project (and yes, we know things like this cost money, thats why theres several million earmarked already.) so we aren't fishing for investors either as you so put it.

Anyway...the chassis is being built in partnership with Trenne Technologies, the same guy that built the Mosler MT900, so right there you know this is the real deal! It will be nomex honeycomb with carbon fiber laminate. Suspension is all A-arm independent, with 6 piston calipers and carbon ceramic rotors. The body is all carbon fiber. The molds are being CNCed as we speak. The gearbox is longitudinal 6 spd sequetial, actually, its the same exact one used in the Pagani Zonda. We were going to use the Mercedes twin turbo V12, but the electronics in the new generation Mercedes are all tied in together, and I mean ALL. every electronic piece is coded to each other, so you can't just swap a piece with another one unless it has been coded to run with the others, and only Mercedes can code those. As you can imagine they don't give that technology away. They wanted 6 million (EUROS!) just to do all the programing for us from scratch so we didn't have to use their key, automatic trans etc etc. Sooo...long story short we went with the Viper V10. ar ar arr! This is going to be one quick puppy! Theres a couple fo other interesting solutions which I can't actually talk about cause they are being patented right now. But I can tell you this...if this one patent goes through, and works as planned you can forget about tail lights as we know them!

Anyway...now that you guys know a little more I guess we can get past the RC car jokes.

This is the race side of this company by the way...

I know...it sucks that I can't share that with you guys cause its really a super cool idea! Guess I'm just adding more fuel to the fire now huh? I don't know really when that part will be made public, we aren't the ones making it. Its being done by a very large local glass company, which is also the one thats making our windshield, and glass in general.

It is mid engined, but the engine is not twin turbo. It will have a supercharger as an option though. Although its probably gonna turn out that the normally aspirated one will be the least asked for of the two. The cost will be about 400k, in euros that is. Colors will be anything the customer wants, we are only making 100. But pearl white looks killer on it! We do have a wheel design of our own, but to be honest I'm not too hot on it. We have OZ designing a wheel center for us right now.

I just now joined fotobucket, and I'm still trying to figure out how to use it but I'll put more pictures up, some aero stuff, and chassis too.

Well, the project is done, and I've moved on to other things and since the car has been presented and everything already then I thought I would post some pics on here to close this post up nicely. The interior isn't my favorite, but I have to admit its different. The best thing about this car is the engine/trans combo. The engine just doesn't stop pulling, and add to that the sequential transmission it just keeps going and going! And yes, the engine is dry sumped. The carbon brakes are amazing too, stop on a dime over and over and over and...well you get the idea.

I don't think the interior is too bad. Kind of techno like the exterior.

Ha! I looked at that pic several times. Very strange. Cool car. But it certainly looks like a highly detailed RC car. Just too detailed, so it can't be.

Any other details you can share? Engine, trans, etc.? weight,
68 Camaro, 406, T-56, Hydroboost, IROC box, SC&C Stage1+, Hotchkis front springs and bar, Speedway Engr. rear bar, Varishocks all 4's, Vintage WW V48's
