      opinion, opinion, opinion?

      is this worth it?

      I can buy a set of QA1 single adgustable coil-overs for $250 for my 68 camaro.

      Or I can buy a set of hotchkis/bilstein shocks to go with my exhisting hotchkis springs.

      What's the better setup?

      given: ATS spindles and SC&C upper a-arms

      I would suggest the Hotchkis shocks, or even QA1 shocks with stock springs.

      does that mean that the QA1 coilovers aren't really a good setup for a pro-touring car?

      I personally don't like the QA1's
      1971 Camaro, 383 stroker ~500HP,M21 Trans with lightened flywheel. All Sorts of Auto-x Goodness in the Suspension. 12" Brakes ->SOLD

      But ask me about my 2004 STi Auto-x car...

      If you already have ATS spindles and SC&C arms, call Marcus and get the Vari-shock coilovers and the new SPC lower arms from him.

      Thanks for the replies.

      I would buy the lower arms and the better coilovers if I could but I'm kind of on somewhat of a budget.

      It looks like I'm just better off running my exhisting springs with the hotchkis bilstein shocks. I just really liked the idea of being able to adjust ride height.

      QA1's are a junk product for PT.. the rate changes with heat, the settings arent reproduceable.... so two clicks on one shock doesnt match 2 clicks on another.. they dont return to same damping rate when returned to same setting etc etc... for a hot rod with need for bling over function they are fine... but for a PT car, stick with bilsteins.... or up to varishocks (or penske or öhlins but thats mucho dinerro)

      I just did a little research and saw people running the afco hidden adjusters with the 9 inch spring. How's this set up work on pt cars? I want to be able to lower and raise the car without pulling apart the whole suspension. Also, I really wanted to pound the car on the ground, is there really that much adjustment with this product, or would I have to cut some off the new coils?

      We have the QA1 double adjustable non-coil over shocks on our 73 camaro. It is autocrossed and open tracked in addition to street use. The main reason we switched to them was the Hotchkis Bilsteins were a bit too soft for autocross with out particular combo, and we wanted the ability to adjust the shocks for different events/tires/pavement/tracks. After a couple of years use, they are still working very well for us.
      We plan on trying other brands some day, but whatever we try will be adjustable.
      For an all around street shock with normal high perf tires, even open tracking with normal high perf treaded tires, the Hotchkis Bilstein shocks are very good. With slick tires at an autocross, they are too soft. - At least the second gen shocks are.
