Paypal sucks!

I have used paypal hundreds of times on ebay, between friends, amazon, etc etc. It is nearly universally accepted these days. Like someone said, if you don't like it, don't use the service (ebay) that is requiring it. They reserve the right to refuse service to you! :D

Go sell it in your local newspaper if you think it's a better value.

Or craigslist - its free!
