69 Camaro - 07 Corvette 18" x 9.5" Front Rim Issues

OK ...call me crazy. Im trying to fit my 18" x 9.5" Corvette rims on my 69 Camaro. I have the Global west A-Arms and QA1 Coilovers on the Subframe. To complicate things...I have the 2007 Corvette 6 piston Calipers and 14" rotors.
This is where the problem starts. The Back Spacing on the Front Rims is 7".
I realize that there is no weight on the suspension yet but the rimms are really hitting the A-Arms. I MEAN A LOT. I am in need of someone whe knows the geometry.
Should I get a 2" spacer kit to get the backspacing to @ 5"?

6.25 is what I come up with based off my backspacing of 5.25 on an 8.5 rim. I don't think you can run a 9.5 wide up front with aftermarket control arms??

I'm running the C6 18x8.5 5-spoke wheels on a 73/74 Nova and they clear the C6 Z06 brakes fine with a 45mm adapter. They're pretty much against the fender lip on the outside and the subframe at full lock and you've go another inch of wheel width on me...I'm thinking it's going to rub hard. You may want to do yourself a favor and pull the springs if you haven't already so that you can cycle the suspension and steering effectively through it's range of motion, otherwise you're just going to be guessing. Also keep in mind that aligment will effect your tire position as well, so make sure you at least have it ball-parked.

That much backspace on a stock frame + aftermarket arms is going to be tough to fit. I've done 17 x 9.5 x 5.5bs on the front. The suspension droop must be reduced to allow for wheel clearance.

I am not sure about this. I have the frame off currently so spacing in the fender is not yet addressable. I will post some pics soon.

Take Carl's advice, he's successfully put 9.5" wheels on the front of a stock subframed 1st gen. I'd shoot for a 5.5" backspace, which I guess would mean a 1.5" spacer. Even then it's going to be really tight.

You might be better off buying some replica wheels that aren't quite as wide. I have 9.5" wheels on the front of my car but it has an aftermarket sub that helps them fit. Good luck with the install.

2" spacer here on a 17x9.5 +56mm offset Z06 rim up front. Stock control arms, hothckis springs, and 255 tire.

OK, so I ordered 2" spacers. They are on the front end. It clears the Global west a-arms just fine....almost too good.
Since I have the front end off the car....and every other part for that matter, does anyone know what is the correct dimention from inside the front wheel well to the other side inside wheel well?
The only measurement I can get at this time is outside wheel to wheel.
I would like to know if this is going to work, but need a little(LOT) of help.

The front sheet metal needs to be on the car. With a tire/rim that size there's not a lot of room. With a "normal" alignment buttonhead screws are needed along the outer wheelhouse. With a "performance" alignment (-1, +6) the tire starts hitting the aft lower wheelwell during turns.

You really need the sheetmetal on the car to get a realistic idea of how the wheels are going to fit. I'd be worried about rubbing the fender with a 9.5" wheel with 5" backspacing, especially on a '69.

SC&C now has lowers that move the wheel forward to compensate for performance alignments. At least that was how Mark explained it! Might help or at least be worth a discussion with Mark.

I am not sure how you host pictures to this site, but I use photobucket or a similar site to upload and host them for me. It just works easier and then I can keep them in a central location for different boards. (And they arent lost if a board crashes and looses data/info.

I look fwd to seeing pics, I would guess it would be really tight as well. From the little I have read SC&C makes awesome stuff.

I tried to put a 6.25" bs 18x9.5" wheel on the front of mine. I had steering arm issues and wheel to upper a-arm interference when turning..

I opted for a 8.5" wheel and a 245 tire.

IIRC, 6.25" works on a 9.0"... but that might be pushing it on a 9.5" wheel. 9.5" is gonna take some finesse and a shorter tire.
