      G-body front end

ok, same as one. actually early 890's S10. starting to do the research and amass the parts while looking for the right truck.

in digging around, ive heard many things about this front end design. my bidget is very, very low, as i am planning on competing in the GRM challenge. so that tosses out things like AFX spindles, C4 front end swaps, billet anything. gotta build the whole car under 2008 bucks.
i have a couple of different theroies on what will work well.
      1. tall upper and lower ball joints, steel LCA bushings, big front sway bar, G-body Hotchkis springs, KYB monomax shocks. speedway motors tubular/adjustable metric chassis upper control arm.
      2. tall B-body spindle, stock ball joints, the rest the same.
      3. Tall upper and lower balljoints, B-body spindles, the rest the same.

what setup will provide me the best geometry and handling for the lowest cost?

next, when we figure out the parts going in, what should/can i run as far as brake upgrades?

remember, i have to build the entire truck for under $2008, so we have to use inexpensive stuff that will still do the job. i am planning on boxing the lower control arms to help with rigidity. so let me know what you think, and what will work best. feel free to make suggestions i havent thought about. think of this as a PT truck on the cheap.

IMO go with #1 and save the rest for brakes.

Is this some sort of challange car?

actually, yes. buld a car for umder 2008 bucks to compete in autocross, drag, and show. only afterwards, im going to track the thing in DE's as well.

so number one seems pretty good? its loosly based off SC&C's stage 2 kit. now ive got to figure out which speedway arms are closest to what theyre using.

I sent a PM to someone who may be able to help you with braking options for the stock spindle.

Get 98-02 S10 Blazer spindles/knuckes, they are a direct bolt on & easily allow you to mount C5 Vette 13" rotors with matching 2 piston calipers.

im having difficulty locaring an inexpensive, adjustable upper control arm that will accept the tall upper ball joint. the speedway ones are on the wrong center, and are made for a chrysler style ball joint. i did find the UB machine arms for cheap, but they are not adjustable.

with the tall ball joints, how important is the adjustability of the uppers? also, would i go with the sraight arms or the offset?

or, do y'all know of another source of inexpensive uppers?

i have non-adjustable uppers with a b-spindle on mine. I bought it as a kit from Global West, but you ought to able to find all the parts in the junkyard. so I would think if you got the UB Machine uppers (cheapest I've seen) and go dumpster diving, you could get 12" brakes and the better geometry.

supposedly there is a problem with bumpsteer with the b-spindle, but I haven't experienced it yet.

ok, i called speedway after figuring out that i dont trust myself to fabricate upper control arms like marcus suggested. they said that you can actually run the tall ball joints with the stock uppers with minor clearancing to the ball join mounting plate.
how tru is this? also, how bad of an idea?

also, found the AFCO tall ball joints for around 60 for the set of 4. are these halfway decent, or am i pissing money away
