      Bridgestone or Michelin

I'm building a car that will use either the Michelin pilot 345/30zr19 or I'm looking at the Bridgestone Potenza REO50A Scuderia 345/35zr19. The appeal of the bridgestone is that it is a true 28-28.5" tall tire where as the Michelin is 27". I need to know which tire is better for normal driving and the occasional roadcourse. I seems like all I see are the Michelin's on the Pro built cars on the forum but someone I thought on this forum just bought the Bridgestone. I'd like the extra height but not if it is not a good tire. Help!!! Weldon

I have the bridgestone's for my project. i picked them for the same reason. most of the tire i see on these cars are to short or at least appear that way. not driving yet so can't provide the info your looking for. I was curious though so glad you asked and hope someone with the knowledge answers for you.

I've used high-end Bridgestones on a few vehicles over the years, and have always been pleased with them, FWIW.

I have narrowed my choice of 19" tires down to the same two you are looking at. I am currently leaning towards the Bridgestone since I think the taller tire will look better in my 68 Camaro's wheel well. Bridgestone lists the height at 28.5" on a 12" rim but I wonder how much that would change if mounted on a 13" wide wheel?

My experience is michelins generally have better wearing tread compounds, meaning they are more consistent through their lifespan. But B/S are usually good hoops too, so I don't think you'll go wrong either way.

Height shouldn't change much from that much rim width change. But the standard for section width is a 0.2" increase with every 0.5" increase in rim width, compared to the spec.
