Nice post's! When I clicked on the last post I thought I must of clicked the wrong post as I found your LS1 and the link said $5000 budget mustang. Wow I'll keep an eye on the progress here and watch to see the progress on the 68 camaro also. I like the mods on the 68 do you have a thread on your Camaro progress?

Got the motor and trans set down in place,I'm tempted to put a driveshaft in it, pull the body back off and drive it around like a go cart.My Camaro is about 8 hours away from paint,I block sand a panel a night, man is it boring. As soon as I spray it I'll make some posts on it,but it just looks like a primered Camaro right now.Ron http://mysite.verizon.net/ls6ron/

Kind of fell off the wagon and bought my first luxury item,at over{$400}.Tried to talk myself into the manifolds, but just couldn't.GTO headers fit my chassis perfect.Kind of tough on the budget but should help the performance.Ron

you couldnt ask for a better fit than that.

and sometimes you just have to splurge, sepecially when youre doing the whole thing on the super cheap. some stuff just isnt availible used.

but 400 aint bad for a splurge.

When I see an LS motor in that Mustang.. I cringe. At the same time, I think of building the LS motor on the floor in my garage for my Ford pickup. There is just so much to be made of those motors without getting into major dough. But then, I hang my head in a little bit of Ford shame. How did you bring yourself to do it? I don't know if I can.

I sat for days crunching numbers on how to make decent power on a budget with Ford stuff, had a couple sleepless nights researching and calculating it just couldn't be done on such a tight budget.I didn't want to,but I figured with C5 suspension,Dana 60 out of a Mopar bread truck,it was already such a mutt, what the hell.If you could see some of the 95 cent puchases I've made on Ebay you would laugh. Its against my nature not to just pick up the phone and order it. If I make the $5000 budget with what the car will be,it kind of suprizes even me,but man is that body a peice of crapLOL.Ron

i agree it just seems wrong. i know he is not starting with much but it will hurt the resale no matter how nice (or not nice) the rest of the car is.

BUT, it is his car to build as he wants. on building the stang!!

I figured I would cheese off the ford guys, but I did save this body from the crusher, and the project was all about the budget first,{as nice a touring car as I could squeeze out of a 5K budget}.Hoping to squeeze a high 11 sec pass out of the thing, and be a good handling car.I still would rather have an 11sec. chevy powered stang then a 13sec. ford powered one.Ron

I've always been a Chevy guy until I bought my current project but, I don't bleed Ford Blue nor am I Die hard Chevy, I'm an American Muscle Car Lover. I did write earlier in this thread that I wouldn't put a Chevy motor in my Ford Mustang but, for your project I think it's perfect. The more I read your progress the more I like the idea of a BIG 3 Muscle Car Gumbo!
What it really comes down to is making your budget work with the most bang for the buck stuff. American made stuff, that's what it's all about. so, keep up the great work, keep the progress updates coming & thanks for saving an American classic from getting crushed!

Man. I hope I don't sound like I am down on the project. I LOVE it. It is the opposite of most of the cool stuff being built these days. It is cool for less dough. Dig it completely I do. The goal is speed on the cheap and that is my MO back to front. Rock on man... rock on.
