yea he's trying again for the lets see 20th time .that car from what i hear is not really for sale unless somebody comes up with really stupid money .a buddy of mine tryed the last time it went up for sale and made a cash offer of 1 mil and he turned it down

I understand the value of these cars but give me a brake (oh excuss me stock brakes, stock susp. stock everything) Its only worth what your willing to pay. Take for granted the muscle car market is better than the stock market now a days, but this a forum of hard core drivers/builders, novice drivers/garage builders and award winning street machines and not a million dollar trailer gueens that sit and collect dust. ID PREFER MY DRIVER I get more gratiDUDE

I went to a SuperChevy show back in the early 90's and there was a guy with 4 ZL-1's, now at that time they was only going for 250k. So this one is at 1,250,000. Yes, I would love to have that return on my investment.

I think he is nuts with that price and last time I checked there were only 2 ZL1 corvettes sold and both are accounted for.

Cool story for all you I'd rather drive it folks. The first Zl1 Corvette has been known about for a long time and is simply shown. The second one has been autoxing for years and kicking serious butt. The owner didn't know what he had when he bought it back in the early 70s I believe. He eventually found out and instead of jumping up and saying I have the second one, he swapped engines and stayed quiet for years. He liked his car and wasn't gonna put up with the people telling him to stop driving it. He was no dummy though and didn't want to damage the engine. So an iron block 427 is in the car now and the ZL1 motor is wrapped in plastic and stored. That's my kind of guy.

You know it's funny....I see cars like that COPO Camaro and Charley's Mustang and I ask myself, "If they're so rare, why don't they just take them to Barrett Jackson?"

Which has me thinking....has Barrett Jackson lost it's allure or is there something going on with that organization that is making people stay away from them? I don't know how much truth there is to this but I heard from a friend of mine recently that most of the cars sold at Barrett Jackson are actually owned by Barrett Jackson. Has anyone heard anything like that?

Last I saw a 10% buyers premium and a 10% sellers premium would steer me away.
10% on 3 mill is a HUGE chunk of change.

I'm the opposite.

If I'm not driving it, then it shouldn't be owned by me.
That's almost why mine has been sold a few times because I'm not driving it. (but it's not done yet)
I don't own a museum, nor am I primping it for a date.

Cars are meant to be driven, not just ogled at.
Unless it's at a museum, it's a waste , just my .02

Hey Sparky its only an investment return if you can get the dough. The funny thing is that I keep telling my wife that on every car, part and rode trip to shows is an "investment". Doesn't seem to be in my wifes vocabulary lately. ( LOL) As far as B jackson versus e-bay I agree, why would any individual sell to the public and deal with the mega PMs, tire kickers and there fees versus the smooth operation of B Jackson. Unless the commissions are way above 10% Its not bad for a 250.000 or greater car if its appreciated 2folds in the last couple of years.

Here is why I would choose e-bay over barrett jackson.
Barrett Jackson takes 10% from the seller and adds 10% to the bid price for the buyer. That 10% is on the mind of the buyer the whole time especially when its in the 6 figure range.

On e-bay he can list it with a real high reserve see where the market is for the car. If it doesn't sell on ebay it only cost him a couple hundred bucks. But anyone that really wants it can make him an offer outside ebay (cause his e-mail is on the ebay site) and he can sell without any commissions being paid.
