Looking for advice on a 4 post lift

Looking to get a decent lift, curious to what some of the rest of you are using if you have one.



The most I can forsee this thing having to lift is the 4x4 Tahoe we own down to the 'Bird and a '63 Vette.
I also want to use it for a possible storage solution for the Vette and Bird.

Ceiling height isn't an issue it'll be installed in my father-in-laws shop.

Any brands I should avoid??

Are you dead set on a four post? The drawback to a four poster is when its on the lift its difficult to work on wheels, suspension because tires are on the lift deck. You might want to look into a two post to make repairs easier. I have both in my shop but use the two post for most everything.

I've had a four post Rotary for 2.5 years now and have been very pleased with it. I used it mainly for storage, but it's very convenient for light maintenance, too.

yeah, I pretty dead set on a four post, mainly because it will be a storage option.
Willing to deal with the pain it will be to do suspension and wheel work.

Because the car is sitting on the wheels still. You then would need to jack up the car morso, just like it was sitting on the ground.

Magntik I have a 4-post 8,000lb lift and I love it. The trick is you have to get the jack pans. Once you get the jack pans you can lift the car and put jack stands under the frame and free up the suspension to do what ever work you need to do. I bought it through an E-Bay store Complete Hydralic 1-888-736-5094. It has been about a year and it has worked flawlessly.We have had every thing from my Camaro's on it to a 4x4 Chevy Van to a 69 Lincoln Continental on it right now which in my opinion out wieghs the van. The deal they were offering at the time was the lift, 2-drain pans,1-jack pan (I added 1 xtra jack pan), and the wheels to move it and I believe at the time it was about $2400.00 to the door. A few things that we changed. We changed the casters on the wheels from steel to nylon less marking of the concrete. We also modified the safety release lever the car bumpers kept hitting it. Also on assembly it is very simple the trick is to have a forklift and it will take no time at all.

That's mainly why I got mine. I built a floor out of aluminum bleacher seats to go in the middle so that I can get ATV's, lawn mowers, and smaller stuff up and out of the way when I'm not using the lift to work on a vehicle.

with a four post lift, you can get hydralic jack option and still be able to lift the car to remove wheels and do your suspension work... it'll be extra $$ but it'll be a good option to have... just take a look at this pic...
