Anyone here still listen to them or collect them? I've been needing to hire someone for a locksmith position that I have open in Colorado. I've been talking to a promising candidate on the phone several times, but we never could meet face to face because he is on call 24hrs. Finally, I told him to just give me the address of his next assignment, and I would just meet him there. We ended up at a Salvation Army, and after the interview, I went inside to look around. They had a decent collection of vinyl records. Foreigner, The Cars, Heart, Eagles, Seals & Croft, Led Zeppelin. And they were all .33 each.

My Dad collects them or did. He has at least 10000 LP's. Once he met his goal of collecting a 45 of every million seller single up to 1975 he quit. I can get lost for days digging thru the stacks of wax.

If you go back, I'd love copies of Led Zeppelin 1, 2, Houses of the Holy, Graffiti, Presence or Coda. Any anything that remotely looks like a bootleg.

I have a handful of modern bands on vinyl like Weezer, Offspring, and Audioslave as well as a bunch of older (80's-early 90's) rock. (also have the Star Wars soundtrack, lol) My girlfriend on the other hand has about 500 records taking up a good two shelves. Most were given to her but she already had an impressive collection of classic rock.

Yes, we play them. It's funny to do this now being used to endless playlists of MP3's on laptops. With vinyl, it's really an activity to listen to music!

I still have mine from but have not bought any since I stopped buying them. My grandfather had a huge collection of 78 records my parent still have.

I have a collection of 1,000 of them and they are mostly obscure artist and of all kinds of different music styles. There are a few very collectable and rare pressings like the Who - Who are you on red vinyl and a special radio station limited master of Pink Floyd Dark side of the moon and a bunch of others I got when I was a DJ years ago in the 70's. Most all of my collection is from the 70's. I have been told by many people who have thousands more records that they would rather have my collection than their own if they ever had to choose. I don't listen to them anymore and prefer to just be entertained by the radio or what others listen to. New music is not as good as it used to be but some of it is awesome. Figure that in the not to distant future that anything you want to hear will be available for free on the interenet therefore buying it is just for bragging rights and I already have a collection I can do that with if I wanted to but it just isn't that important to me to spend money on it anymore. I can't decide what I want to here for myself but if you tell me what kind of mood you are in I can pick you something that will entertain you and that is what being a DJ did for me.

The sad thing is that some records have gone down in value with them being rereleased on CD's but I expect them to go back up someday. My brother told me he could put them on DVD for me and I told him I would rather have an older setup and play them that way than go to all the expense and time to do it, to me the digital age isn't that impressing to me when it comes to music. So many people have downloaded more music than they could listen to in a lifetime and they brag about it like they really own something important and they don't even know what it all sounds like

Hey Jeff,

Yes, I transferred to Denver to take over operations for DW in the Colorado/UT area. I've been here since August. So far everything has been well.

I really need to get some heat in the garage, though. It might be 25deg in there right now. Although I'm sure you could teach me somehthing about COLD. I'm sure it's been frigid up north.

i snagged a box full up from a house in town that was gonna get demolished..got some cool stuff..i see some of the well known stuff go for 10 bucks on ebay..if anyone here wants anything particular ill look see if i have it just sitting in spare room collecting dust..

I have about 50 of them, including an original copy of Led Zeppelin III with the spinning wheel.

With a nice clean surface and a diamond stylus I still say they sound better than CD's or MP3's.
