      2nd Gen. production numbers?

I was wondering what sites you guys use to help decide how rare a car is(read: rare, as in not many of these, not necesarily valuable)??
I found in some weeds today a 78 z-28 that is a 4 spd non air car. Ive seen three of these ever in my life, and was trying to find some info on how many of the 54,907 z-28's made in 1978. Lil help here peeps???

      Thanks
      Russ

thanks for the replies guys...i actually tried that site and a couple of others. I found how many z-28's were made in 78, but cannot find a definitive number on how many were 4 spds. A 78 was my first drivable car ( i had three @ 14, all of which never ran!) and i have had several since. In all that ive seen only three were man trans z-28's.

this is funny! my first car was a very sweet and low mileage 71 malibu, i bought after mowing yards and hauling hay for two summers. The motor was locked up so i bought a 74 impala(wagon) that was crashed and pulled the 400/400 to swap in the bu'. I had some headers and intake and holley carb to put on during this time. At first i had the timing so far out and forgot to plug in the batt source under the cap that it wouldnt run. Also i failed to see the fuel leak at the back of the carb that allowed (can you see where this is going?) fuel to run down the back of engine..down the bellhousing...and onto the grass. When i found the plug and plugged it in and retarded the timing a lil she fired right up (open headers) and set the fuel on fire and burned my first car to the ground!
I cried for days...until i found the 74 ss nova two weeks later!

ahh kk didn't think of that Thanks bro I think I found the number though on a registry...out of 54,907 z's that year this site says that 1653 were manual and that all 4 spds' were 350. It goes on to say that 15+k were manuals but most were 6cyl 3spds, which of course would make them not z's..lol but you get the point!

It looks like you can back into your answer. If option M21 4-speed is Z28 only, then only 15,118 were made.

wow, i totally missed it at the bottom. Thanks bro, you rox! so theres my answer in 1978, 54.907 z-28's were built. Of those 15,118 were four speeds. Wouldnt exactly call it super rare. N-e-ways. looks like the guy wants 1500.00 bux...trans is in the car but the motors gone and the interior is wrecked. The rust is limited to a very little amount in drivers rear wheel molding, and below the back window is good there! I dont think im interested in it for that amount but if anybody wants it i have his number and address in mo.

See, if you only had a 77 it would be much more rare! 5,114 of 14349! LOL

LOL, 78s are nice and you rarely see one.

Does it have its grille and gas door emblems?

yes in fact other than the interior being ratty and the motor missing the car is very much in tact and its never been hit doors open and close ok and all the glass is good....
