Wow, I was a true childhood fan of the Knieve. I even had his rocket cycle toy (wish I still did).

Thinking the same thing, big part of childhood.

In the spring at a charity golf event I bought an autographed picture of him jumping some buses. Everybody who sees it in my garage loves it and is like "oh yeah I remeber him..." He was the original X-Game competitor.

Wow, I was a true childhood fan of the Knievel. I even had his rocket cycle toy (wish I still did).

I was a big fan too and spent many hours playing with rocket cycle, or whatever it was called. I also remember them showing him making a jump at the end of every ABC Wild World of Sports broadcast.

He lived a crazy life, and by that far beyond the motorcycle jumps. He will be missed though.

He went out and did it knowing he was going to crash, thats amazing.

Sad to here that he died. I got the motor home and the crank up harley for christmas the year that it came out. Itwas great I opened all my presents and played with them while mom & dad were at work.Then wrapped them backup .They never knew till I told themafter I got married (didn't want to git ground ha ha .I also broke my schwinn pea picker (green apple crate) more times than I can remimber ,including the frame acting like him. too bad I'd be worth $1500 now.LOTs of stuff on you tube .

It's a sad day a, legend has passed. His hero status lasted far beyond his career. I probably wouldn't have busted up so many mini bikes and small motorcycles if it weren't for him. Now that I think about it I probably wouldn't have broken my spleen jumping BMX bikes either! I remember being glued to the TV whenever there was a televised jump. Years after his attempt I went to the fountains at Ceasars Palace and stood there for about 5 minutes looking at it just reminising the horrible crash.

Matt Hoffman (famed BMX jumper) and owner of Hoffman bikes was also an Evel fan. Hoffman Bikes built a run of limited Edition "Evel Knievel" BMX frames in reverance to the legend. They have a special "Evel Knievel" sticker pack and serial number plate on the frame. When they were announced as something going into production I called Matt and told him I wanted one. And every week or two after that until they were ready. I got #3 !!! I've been told Matt and Evel had #'s 1 & 2. I also got the matching custom painted Protec Evel Knievel Helmet. I still have both unused, figured one day I'd build a wall display for the frame and fork.

Big part of my childhood too. I remeber sitting at my friends house watching the "big jump" over the Grand Canyon. We also bent a few rims on our bikes trying to jump s%&#...who knew a piece of plywood and a few milk crates could be so much fun!

I too broke many a bike after seeing him jump those buses at Green Valley Raceway in person. It was the most awesome thing I ever saw at that time in my life. I will always remember it. Oh yea those two concusions I got jumping ramps don't bother me today either. What was I talking about??????????

It's amazing enough watching todays guys jump on modern lightweight dirtbikes, but the big overweight bikes he used? THAT was impressive!

Well it's true what they say...these things come in 3's. First it was Kevin Dubrow, then it was Sean Taylor, now Evel Kneival. I too had the wind up bike, I guess we all did as adolescents. Loved that thing, I think I crashed it into everything imaginable. I'll miss him. Goodbye Evel, thanks for your part in all our lives.

Evil certainly was larger than life.
I remember winning an argument with my younger sister many years ago as to what new movie we were going to see at the theatre.
She wanted to see Willy Wonka and I wanted to see Evil Knievel.

Eville RULED! I thought he would pass as soon as he saw them kids doing back flips on MXR's. Yes they aren't 750 fours, but the kids out there now are all Eville's offsprings. Everyone enjoyed his stunts, the fountain crash looked absolutey PAINFULL, I can't believe the stuff he tried and pulled off!
