      Headliner--roll cage question

I put a cage into a Dodge Demon and was wondering how much space I need for a headliner. I dont have to have a factory headliner, but how much space do I need to leave????

You still have plenty of room. Do you still have the original cardboard headliner piece? Its going to be REAL tuff to tuck it in but it can be done. I have a 1/2 cage and my orginal headliner was shot to death. I replaced it myself.

Get ready to get some bloody knucles. So, good luck. lol

The original headliner wasnt cardboard, it was perforated vinyl held in by bows.......cage is 1/2" or so from roof in front. So I am not sure what to do

Here is mine. Like I said, my cage is only behind my seats. I still think you have more room than I did. Once I get the car out of the paint shop I can post some better pics. I hope this helped give you a better idea. Let me know if you need more pics.

      headliner

I have a 62 Chevy II and had the same issue. I actually have a full cage with the halo hoop. I couldn't use the stock type headliner with bows. I created a one piece headliner panel and attached it to the roof supports with push in fasteners. The interior shop should be able to get the material, it is a 1/4" thick plastic board that can be heated with a heat gun and formed to the contor of the roof. I covered that with foam and leather. I had to install it by sliding it in through the front winshield opening so it had o be done before installing the windows. I also made the sail panels and some perimiter panels out of the same material and covered them in leather as well. I'll look for some interior pictures of the headliner and post them if you like. I don't have any pictres of the construction of the boards.

      Headliner

Here are two pictures. The first is part of the headliner. It's hard to tell much. I need to learn how to take better pictures. The headliner was made from two 4'x4' panels spliced together with a .045 x 3" wide aluminum strip. I made cardboard temlpates and transfered them to the plastic board then started heating and forming. The headliner has some sinks in it were we were pushing it into position and pushing in the fasteners.

The underside of the trunk lid is made from a single sheet of .045 aluminum that I rolled on my english wheel to get it to conform to the inside of the structure. That was then covered with foam and leather. The other panels in the trunk are also .045 aluminum covered in leather except for the sub panel and the amp panel. Those are masonite. The sub is in a MDF enclosure.

Hope these help. I can try to take some better pictures if you like.

That trunk looks awesome, I'm just worried about the gas tank and system being so close. Is there a chance of a spark taking out that tank?
