      Brake advice please

I’m getting ready to run the hard brake lines for my 69 firebird. I have a hydroboost system, C5 calipers, SS flex lines for the three soft lines and a distribution/proportioning valve from a 1979 firebird with 4 wheel disk brakes. I plan on running 3/16” SS hardlines.

Is there anything I need to add or change to the system? Is there a better solution instead of the 1979 firebird block?

      Thanks,

      Sean James

You should have 5 flex hoses with a 4-wheel disc car...one at each caliper and the rear axle center drop. Personally, I would run a adjustable prop valve in the rear line over the 1979 Firebird combi as you'll end up with some adjustability. Your car doesn't even remotely resemble a '79 Firebird in the brake department, so why use the combination valve from one?
      It's what I does.

With three flex lines it sounds like you are still running rear drums. If you are I think you will need a residual pressure valve, 10 psi for rear drums.

Sorry brain fart, yes five ss flex lines.
If I run an adjustible proportioning valve for the rear, I will still need some type of distribution block? If so does anyone have an example of one? Or would I use the distribution block for the 1969 firebird with an adjustible proprtioning valve in the rear line?

You can run a 4 wheel drum distribution valve. As long as a 69 is like a 68 or before, only for distribution, not a prop valve or holdoff. I use the stock block to keep my brake warning light. You can also just use brass tee fittings.

      flex lines

there really dosent have to be 5, 3 will work - its how GM did it on the 79-81 4wd T/A's but they did allow for a little play the hard line was kinda Z'd- as there isnt much movement other than in or out as pads wear . the later cars(like my 87&99 T/A) did have 5 . I am running 5 on my 69 bird, sound cool and post up some pics!

Does there really need to be a distribution block? Could I run the front to a tee block and then to the calipers? Run the rear line through an adjustable proportioning valve then to a tee block on the axle and then to the calipers?

Can the adjustible proportioning valves be controlled by a cable from the interior? A valve like this http://store.summitracing.com/largei...um-g3905_w.jpg
