vintage air w/ custom bulkhead

I'm laying out a gen 4 va system in my 68 camaro to include a
custom bulkhead fitting.
my question is about the interior lines that go from the main unit
to the custom bulkhead fitting.
Ideally I wanted the four lines to be fabbed up solid but I am having
trouble finding anyone locally capable of the bends and o-ring
fittings. I would accept alum or copper piping.
are most of you going with soft lines under the dash using the
standard ends from va or have you found local sources to provide
custom lines?

The solid lines will crack after a time. Most use a combination of solid and flex line.

It's generally a lot easier (and cheaper) to run rubber underdash. The V/A units mount to the plastic case and the evap. can deflect and vibrate within the housing so it really isn't a rock solid, vibration free connection to the firewall.

Regardless, the hardline portions can be done yourself, or mostly yourself depending on your fab skills and tools available. Bend up the appropriate tubing in SS and get the tube ends (weld on) and tube nuts from VA and either TIG them on yourself or have someone else weld it for you. You will need good quality tubing benders to bend the SS, especially the -8 (3/8") and the -10 (1/2"). I know this sizing doesn't follow the traditional AN sizing but thats how the AC plumbing works. There are aluminum tube and fittings also, but I'm not sure of a source off hand. Good luck.
