IMO, the best part about a 3rd gen is the front. It's the rear B pillar, slanted rear window and post that looks kinds off. Especially from an angled rear view.

      But go for it.

I'd be worried about resale value though.

first off the it was only an idea and we talked about it and we arent going to do that, the front didnt look right, and personally i think the b pillar and the rear window make it look unique, I guess thats what i like about the body??

this car isnt going to be sold so im not too worried about resale value

i say do it! i love cars that make people stop in their tracks and take a look, those are the best ones...

... hell im even kicking around the idea of scissor doors on my 69 camaro just to piss off both the muscle car crowd and the import crowd.

remember its your car, have fun with it.... it doesnt matter what others think of it as long as u like.... go unique.

Ok after discussing the project over the past few days with my dad we are 90% sure we are going with the Art Morisson MaxG chassis...hopefully within the next 6 months we will be getting the suspension built and setup in our garage and all the bodywork will be finished and we can get ready to have a roller in the garage... the other thing is while i showed everybody on here the rendering i had done, the original idea was for a christmas present for my dad...I had it blown up and framed for him, so he got to see that today and loved it, hopefully it will help to light a fire under his butt and we can really get this project going!

There are ways to get the lighter bumper effect without simply slapping a Camaro nose on it. The one Brian Stupski is doing (with the 69 nose) will be totally integrated with the fender "swoops" and everything. It's really not the Frankenstein creation some people are thinking.

I'm taking a different approach by using and modifying the existing bumpers and creating lower valences that match the rest of the body. I love the look of the Novas but the bumpers are just way too chunky for me. The only other mod I'm doing is the rear tail panel and spoiler, though I've contemplated how difficult it would be to graft in the hardtop look, glass and all, from a Camaro while retaining the rest of the Nova roof. Door posts drive me nuts!

This is pretty much where I've been at for over a year but it needs more work, especially the rear.

hahah Ben we are on the exact same page. I definately want to find a way to make the front bumper look lighter, but I really dont want to put the camaro stuff on there because then I will get the people saying, well why dont you just build a camaro. Anbd the door posts...ahhhh horrible...i did a quick photoshop getting rid of them an all I can say was I guarentee that the nova would have been quite a bit more popular without them...it looks amazing...and I definately like that lower valence, I have been doing numerous designs on my own time (just sketches) trying to figure out how to work the front bumper so that it works with the car, I have not really come up with anything...yours is gonna look great when it is done...have you made much progress with it?

I don't think you necessarily have to put Camaro bumpers on anyway. The Nova bumpers are contoured correctly to wrap around the outer edge of the headlight. You can still use the stock filler piece under the grill if you don't tuck the bumper too far in.

As far as the posts, I think that is one reason why the Nova is a little lighter than the Camaro. (I'm pretty sure I heard that was the case anyway) The structural pieces that are required to reinforce a hardtop add weight.

Slow progress but as much as I hate to, I'm thinking of selling it. I'll probably finish up the rust removal and smoothed firewall so that stuff will be taken care of for whomever wants to take it on.

I just think its too chunky...it looks like the front of the car hit a brick wall in my opinion...I want it to flow and be smooth

      My .02!

Look at the '67 Chevelle front bumper! I like how it integrates into the body but has enough width to still make it look like it's not off a camaro.
The rendering is cool but I think the bumper is a little on the thin side.

good call John, I had not even thought about anything aside from the camaro for some reason, the chevelle bumper is a whole lot smoother than the Nova one, thats for sure...I will definately have to consider this now...thanks bigtime!

Just got off the phone with Art Morrison Enterprise, and I am pretty set on the maxG chassis. I knew it was a longshot but I was kinda hoping to be able to get those ZR1 carbon/ceramic brakes to put on the nova but alas...I will have to settle for 14 inch brakes...I suppose they will do lol, I have had a few people interested in the bike, so when that is gone I think we will be ordering the frame...

BTW if any of the AME guys see this, I talked with Scott I believe his name is, and he did a great job, great knowlege of your stuff and very helpful. Personally its much nicer speaking to somebody to speaks clearly than somebody who doesnt mumble and mutter, Scott was extremely clear, you have some great customer service, keep it up!

Well the bike is on consignment at a local bike shop, so hopefully within the next few weeks, few months at the worst, it will be sold...

Well I have been pm'ing Craig Morrison and trying to figure out the lead time on the MaxG chassis, he told me it was 4-6 weeks so after talking with the pops we are thinking within the next few weeks we will be ordering it, Mr. Morrison tells me that it is one of their "builder chassis" which means that we still need to weld in the motor mounts, body mounts, transmission crossmember, and core support. After we have all that set up we plan on having the whole thing powdercoated. The plan with the core support is to simply bolt it in as opposed to welding it on. The idea is that we can easily remove it for easy access on the engine bay, mostly when we do engine swaps and such...

right now the body is just sitting at the body shop waiting for the go ahead... our body guy said it would take about a month, while im sure most guys on here have heard that before, this guy has delivered a number of times... this guy has been restoring a number of cars and we have seen him knock them out in good time, and he does great work.

With that said my dad an I plan on having the body work started when we order the chassis, so by the time the body work is done we should have the frame powder coated and we are hoping to have it the suspension components installed.

      In other news....

I have been speaking to a few companies about sponsorships, I am not looking to get a full sponsorship just partial ones, mostly discounts on parts. The plan is to make shows like Houston/ Dallas AutoRama, a few shows in the Atlanta area (got family there so we have an excuse to go) as well as numerous smaller shows around the Houston/San Antonio/ Austin/ Dallas area's... so the car will get decent exposure... some of the companies I have spoken to so far inclue: BAER, Forgeline, and Pioneer... I have to make a call to BAER this week to speak with one of their reps about the car. I need to talk to Frank from Prodigy Customs about Forgeline, Forgeline directed me to him so I need to give him a call soon, JVC seemed interested so I need to shoot them another email...

As you can see there has not been any actual progress on the car, it has been planning mostly, I came up with a semi "official" to do list with quite a few "to do's." Hopefully it should really get rolling soon...

Also looking to do a major garage renovation soon, going through some magazines and fell upon the VAULT line (http://www.showroomgarage.com/). Really nice stuff, plus it would really help to optimize space in the garage.

So if anybody is interested in getting involved in the project (sponsors .:hint:. .:hit:.) shoot me a PM or shoot us an email at [email protected] , we would love to have more people involved!

hmm, dont you want to start body work after you get the frame? seeing how you have to cut out the intire floor of the nova and make a new custom one?? thats what i would have done but thats me, i was acutally planning on get the morrison frame but the fact that i had to cut my floors up i didnt feel like it any more since they are solid and no reason to take them all out. Thats why i think im going with the schwarts chassis, just kind of a game right now should i get it or should i not.

just keep the pictures coming as the work on the car progresses.

Why not just stick w/ an upgraded stock sub? Or better yet a Morrsion or DSE bolt-in Sub?

haha sorry I did not make that clear... the car needs to have a patch on one of the panels and a couple other small things, the idea was that we would have him start on those and have that finished by the time we were ready to get him the frame. one of the floor pans is already shot and the trunk pan has needle holes all through it, so those have to be replaced any ways, that was one of the reasons we were leaning towards the MaxG... but yah i need to work on clarifying hahah the floor and trunk work will take place after we get the frame all situated. oh dont worry there will be plenty of pictures...I am a camera whore so no worries!

well the stock sub we had was trashed so we ditched that, and we were intitially planning on going with the DSE stuff, but we were going to do both the front and rear, when it came down to it it was close to a wash, and theres more structural integrity for a full frame chassis
