Recomendations for seats, belts and minimum rollbar?
Taking off from the sticky thread by streetfyter68 I'm curious on what seats and such are recommended.
Steering wheel and column suggestions?
Is there a brand/maker of 3pts belts mounting in the stock location that are safe/approved etc?
What about seats? I'm seeing that a lot of seats that recline don't meet certain rules, but they put them in new factory cars all the time. Wouldn't a Corbeau/Recaro reclineables etc meet the same standards?
Do seats need cross tubing to mount to, or can they be safely installed with or without sliders in generally stock locations/manner?
What would be the minimum roll bar setup be for mounting harnesses? Street driven car, and I'm worried about head impact on a full cage setup. I've seen some Shelby's with just a rollbar with harness bar, but no diagonal bracing forward or rear. Doesn't seem like it would do much good?
Basically, I'm trying to get varying levels of safety suggestions. Meening at a minimum for me would be a quality 3pt seat belts and good seats mounted well, but the last thing I want to do is get hurt or worse, have my wife get hurt because I got cheap on safety.
I'm willing to lose the back seat, they're hard and uncomfortable anyway. I believe that the cage by streetfyter68 would be a good setup, I'm just worried about the head impact on the cage bars. I don't want to have to wear a helmet and full fire suit just to drive my car.
I want this to be a fully streetable car, meaning heat and A/C, power windows, stereo, etc but want it to be safe as well. So I'm willing to give up/rearange to get stuff safe and out of the way. Flat door panels etc to push the cage out all the way etc.
Sorry if I seem to rambling. Want my car to be safe, not run in NASCAR events, but low backs and lap belts just don't cut it.
