Need a definitive answer for which lowering spring to use

After much reading, debating, head scratching, and general pondering I figured I'd post up to see what you guys think.

Due to to some expenses arising from the Camaro project we decided against the AirRide setup. We had a few people contact us about donating some parts, so we can get out a lot cheaper with a different setup due to that.

I am wondering about what springs to use on the front. I would like to get a 2" drop out of the car without making too rough riding. My 98 TA has a 2" drop with BMR springs and 18" wheels and it is a terrible ride. It handles like it is on rails and can take most anything you throw at it, but any bump in the road is like a sledgehammer to the skull.

What I've gotten through reading the boards is that the DSE 2" drop in the front with the 3" rear springs looks like the best option. I do not want to cut any springs or anything if at all possible.

I can get Eibach and Hotchkis springs from some old contacts from an old business I had years ago, but I'm just not sure about them.

The car will have tubular upper and lower a-arms, a LS-based 5.3L punched out to 5.7L, T56, and a full interior. It will be a little lighter than a stock 68, but it should be close enough that the springs should settle to where they need to be.

      Advice?

I have hotchkis all the way around on mine. With the revalved bilsteins its awesome. I have the ATS spindle and still wish I was a little lower in the front. I have a 1" block in the back.

You have the Hotchkis drop springs and the 1" drop spindle and it sits like that? I love the look, but I'd prefer to keep my factory spindles for budget reasons.

Yep, hotchkis springs, ATS tall spindle, speedtech U/L CAs and a 25.5" tire. I'd love to drop it another 1" up front.

I'd make peace with cutting springs if I was you. It's hard to get the "perfect stance" with out cutting springs.

Yeah, I know, but I want to get close to what I'm looking for before I start cutting.

I know the 2nd gen guys are cutting a lot out of the Hotchkis springs to get the stance they want. I only want to cut a little if I can get away with it.

You could get some AFCO 9" springs with the hidden adjusters for the front, its not expensive for the set up and.........its adjustable. With an LS1 in the front I would recomend something in the under 650# range. 650 being the stiffest. Im sure someone can chime in and give you something right on for your setup..

      Good Luck
