I'm not really a Ford guy!!

Hey there! I am new to this board, but have been lurking. I have a 1991 mustang that I built 90% by my self. It was my first major car resto-mod. But I have been in the car game for 20yrs. I had a ton of moral support from my new friend and part time boss, Jeff Schwartz. Mu job with Jeff includes assembling the chassis he developed for your crowd. When a customer wants a fully assembled one, I get the pleasure of putting them together. (most of the time!)

The car is truly a 'Frankenstang'. It's a 91 Gt model that I found behind a body shop for $900. The front clip was missing and it had some frame damage to the left front rail. I rebuilt the car from the ground up over a 2 yr period. Then it's slowly evolved to what it is today. Most of the pictures on my www.fquick.com/frankenstang page. Then there's the www.frankenstang.com page which needs some work.

The major highlights include a 2003 Cobra IRS and full Cobra brake set-up. Also it has the Bilstein shock and strut package.
The engine was rebuilt by me and it's a factory block .030 over and blueprinted to perfection by Mike Yank and crew at Speed Performance Engineering in Wauconda Il.
Of course the major wow factor is the full SN95 interior swap. I made my own door panels and had Cassin Customs in Marengo cover them in matching vinyl. The seats, carpet and center console came from different 2003 cobras. The dash is from a 1999 and the cluster came from a 1995 GT.

There isn't much left from the original car, save for the doors and hatch lid. The front end has a 1986 conversion (reverse engineering?)
I really like the old 4-eye cars and there are too many aero-nose cars around here anyway.

to tell you the truth i pretty much don't like any fords at all. But i still give mad kudos for the work you've put into yours, and how it doesnt look like every other mustang out there.

Very nice fab work, the car looks great! I really dig the full SN95 interior and IRS swap. The "4-eye" Mustangs are my favorite too; my buddy in college (around 1992) had a light-blue '86 GT that I have great memories of. And, it kind of reminds me of my Monte SS. Thanks guys. The 4-eye was kinda my wifes idea. She had one for her high school car and since she was 'letting me' build a car, I had to go with it.

Super job, the widening of the OE 98 wheels is a nice touch too, and the colors and new interior really worked out great!

You have pics of the 88 coupe? I'd like to see what the 18's look like. I may have to update mine in the future. There are few affordable options for my car with that IRS in the rear. I actually have figured out how to fit wider wheels in the rear. It involves custom tubular lower arms and a min-tub job.

They offer a hyper dark and a hyper light, but the pics don't show any different. I looked at Forgeline (what we use at the shop) but can't afford 2 months salary for wheels and tires.

Well, here's my opinion. It's a nice-looking wheel, but I'd wanna see it photo-shopped in place first before spending the coin. Personally, I think a set of these FR500 wheels with the dark-gray centers would look fantastic on your car. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Anthr...spagenameZWDVW

I'm 99% sure I can't get a 9 inch wide wheel up front. I have rack limiters in there now just to keep the 8's from rubbing the lower arms. Now, if someone wanted to 'donate' a set of tubular lowers and a coil-over setup, then I could fit 9's with a 255 tire up there.

The stock Ford rears that I used were widened 1.5" by weldcraft. I also had them mill off 3/16 from the back of the hub face. The rears fit like a glove now.

Thus the reason I need a wheel company that has more offset options. I love the FR500's, they look awesome on the Fox-bodied cars. Plus I never considered the gray centered ones, Usually only see the black ones.
