      Procharger 8 rib drive belts

It's me again. Another question. As mentioned before, I am trying to stuff a Procharger P-1SC under the hood of my 1966 Corvette. After cutting holes in my inner fenders and hood braces, plus modifying the brackets to lower the housing, I think I may have it aced. Unfortunately, my drive belt is now too long. So, I tried finding info on Prochargers site, (waste of time), all they mention is that the belts are made by Gates. Tried searching the Gates sight (waste of time), so I am here to ask the experts as I can't decipher the numbers on my Procharger belt so that I can order a belt to fit my situation. The numbers on the belt in the order that they appear:

      DB6451-008
      1907AC
      76L482

I'm thinking that one of these numbers has to be the length, probably in millimeters, but none of them even come close.

I'd guess the DB6451 is 64.5" belt (approximately) and the 008 is 8 rib. You can use that length to get started. A string or similar around the belt will give you an idea of total length.

Most of the lengths I've found at the local auto parts stores, but every once in a while they're a custom length available only through Procharger (they have an agreement with Gates on certain sizes to not sell them to anyone else, mostly in the 12 rib).

8 Rib belts are used on a lot of big rigs. There should be a lot of sizes available. You should be able to find a freindly semi shop local.

My local Napa store has 8rib belts they let me keep bringing belts back until I got the right length. Make sure u don't get a green belt or a heavy duty belt they slip worse. The cheap belt line by gates or another company will work best and not slip as bad. If you really want to crank the boost and use a smaller pulley on the blower have the pulley dipped to remove the black coating which will make the pulley grip better then u can polish the pulley if u like.

8-ribs are easy to find except for a few Procharger-only sizes, which are few and far between in 8-rib flavor. My local NAPA has or can get the 8-rib belts (NAPA's house belts are made by Gates BTW) as can another commercial truck supply house.

If your belt is now too long you can cut it and use it (or use non-stretchy string) to determine your new correct belt length.

You shouldn't have to pay more than about $25-30 for an 8-rib Gates belt.

Thanks to all for your feedback. I was concerned that my belt might be some odd size and finding one a bit shorter might be a problem. As it turns out, there is a large selection of belts within that range.

Blown353.....me no cut! It is brand new. If I can't sell it I will donate it to a needy forum member.

LOL! Good point. I have a high-70" something 6 rib belt I swiped off another car and cut it; I use that for serpentine belt length checks. Wrap it over, make a sharpie mark on the belt of the overlap, and measure it. Works on 8 & 12 rib setups too as you're only checking length.
