How do I get this panel off?

You Know that panel between the trunk and rear window? I'm trying to remove it so I can hammer out a dent and remove some rust. I can get the side near the trunk unscrewed and lift it up but the side near the window seems to have 3 rivets from the vinyl roof holding it down. Not too sure about that though because you can't see it. I asked one guy already but he said to work on it while it's on the car. Can I get a 2nd opinion please? Thanks

Ok seriously. Most of those panels are spot welded in and the seams were lead filled.If the seams are filled you will need to use a torch to soften and remove the lead. Wear a mask when doing this. Easy way to find the seams if filled in is to open the trunk and look in the trunk weather stip channel for a seam. They usually aren't filled in in the trunk. Once you find the seam on each side you'll need to remove the paint and primer to find all of the spot welds. Drill them out, fix your panel, and weld in back in.

I'm in the process of dong this on my 67 'Bird convert. With a convert you need to weld in a brace to keep the fenders from spreading. This should not be a problem since yours is a hard top.
