      New 1/4 mile times...

I did a few little tricks to the car to see if it would run 10's for me, (previous best is 11.25 @ 120, 1.56 60') and I got oh so close.

I just added more jet in the secondaries, added a couple gallons of cam2 in with my pump 93, installed a electric water pump drive, and took off the power steering belt.

Quick rundown of the car/engine: '70 Camaro, 406 sbc, AFR 210s, Lunati solid roller, Super Victor, Holley 830, full MSD, 1 7/8" Super Comps, 3 1/2" Borlas with turndowns, TH350, 10" 4000 stall, 4.10's, M/T drag radials, 6500 rpm shifts.

Here's the numbers from the timeslip for my first run (and best) of the night:

      R/T ... .108 (out of practice, i know)
60 .... 1.509 (felt like the tires came off the ground)
      330 ... 4.485
      1/8 .... 6.998
      MPH ... 97.19
      1000... 9.192
      1/4 ... 11.052
      MPH .. 120.91

The next two runs had traction issues, but these are the best times ever for the car. I'm happy, but was hoping for a 10 second timeslip before I tear the whole car down for a rebuild/paint - transition to pro-touring. Maybe I'll try one more time before I do. This was on M/T ET Street Radials, and they're getting a little worn, prolly from my excessive burnouts...

Once it gets a stick, and Hotchkis setup, and I'm able to run some roadcourses, it should pull pretty good on the straight-a-ways anyway.

Hey thanks. Yeah, I think going on another day when it's a little cooler, and the humidity isn't so high might do the trick. It was really sticky that evening, plus the dew formed on the cars by the second runs.

What RPM are you turning in the traps? Maybe a different diameter tire?
Rusty side up, shiny rubber down...

I shift it at 6500, and it goes through the traps at 6500-6600, the shift light comes on right before. I think it's about perfect for that. My tires are 28" tall. BTW, this is a street car, and I might race it 4-5 times a year.
