To me, it looks like the guy lost his business. If the bank legitimately locked him out of the warehouse space, he can't get in under any circumstances. If he LL evicted him under the same circumstances, same deal.

I don't think he intentionally screwed you (although you certainly were screwed), but assuming he is legitimately busto, what the hell? It's not like he was hording steeringwheels or shifters. IMO there's a big difference between bad service and somebody who went out of business.

If somebody has bad service and goes out of business, he gets what he deserves.

If somebody goes out of business and THEN gives bad service, it's just bad luck. Maybe this isn't the week for you to play Lottery.

I find it interesting that Carter suggests that he knew nothing of the shipment and didn't receive it...but the shipping receipt clearly indicates that he did.

      Did I mention SCUMBAG???

Wait, so let me get this straight...

You mailed your steering wheel to the American Stitches office in Rowlett, TX. John then received the package at the office in Rowlett, then hand carried it to the warehouse in Rockwall? Or maybe the steering wheel never made it to the warehouse and it's still sitting in the office in Rowlett?

Correct, American Stitches received the steering wheel in Rowlett, TX. They went out of business, started up a new business called Craft Customs and relocated to Rockwall, TX.

But Carter tells me that he knows nothing about receiving my steering wheel and shifter boot...

I don't think he stole it and took it with him, he probably just abandoned it and left it at his old place. Nevertheless, he should make it right for you.

Bank seizes everything, he's not getting back in there. If you did not tick him off too much, find out from him which bank seized the property, send them the delivery receipt and demand your property back from the bank.

You will recieve a letter from the bankruptcy court once things get filed all of the way and the lawyers go through all of the stuff. If you had a reciept or work order you will be able to make a claim for property or a loss. This will however could take up to 90 days. All of the stuff that was seized when they lock the doors is still there and if you have the paperwork you will have a chance of getting it back someday.

AMCMike has the right idea for you to follow. Noone intentionally goes out of business to screw people and if you have ever been in business you would understand from a different angle. I know it won't get your wheel back or ease your pain but the way you act now will affect the outcome. Finding out what bank may help you a bunch so try to find out.

I hope things go better in the future and know how you feel cause I have been on both side of this kind of situation and it feels worse to lose a business and have people hate you than to just lose a part or 2. Going over and beating him up won't get you anything but an assault charge and will cost you more than you already have lost.

I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks to all for the ideas. I have notified the authorities in Texas and I'll see what happens from there. I'll keep ya posted.

      Cheers
