C5 template/ drawing

Yep, my car had front discs already, so just used the old ones. $100 is steap, you could just about buy the hubs Kore makes for that. Did not realize that the 3rd get had the same bearing sizes.

Plate is 1/2" 0.77kg/1.69lb not 5/8"

Made the brackets of 12mm plate. The brackets that are sold from various suppliers are of 1/2" plate 12.7mm. The diffrence is only 0.7mm, BUT the abutment is not 0,7mm out of center its 3mm/1/4"? I will make som shims in lathe and TIG Weld them to the bracket to center them.
Are the abutments out of center on the bought adapters also?

That being said, I have a template for the second gen/ b-body spindle for the C5 calpiers. I was getting ready to mail it out to someone who earlier requested it from me. I can photocopy it on a piece of paper to anyone who PM's me there mailing address. Mine are identical to the aluminum brackets in the above picture.

I also, if I can find them, have the C5 template for the 1st gen spindle. I can also make a template of it if anyone want's it. Same procedure, PM me with address and also let me know which spindle bracket you need.



I bought both my brackets and have not yet installed them so I can't vouch for the accuracy. Slight shimming and/or adjustment may be required.

If any suppliers request that I cease sending these templates, I will. As I said, I'm not trying to step on any toes, just trying to help out fellow gearheads upgrade their brakes.

These will work, but I'm working as as mechanichal supervisor at a ship yard so it was not a big job to make these.
But as I wrote. Is it required to shim to get them centered? Not a big problem, but since the brakets from Core and others are only 0.7mm thicker and I dont know if they reguire shims.

the kore3 brackets are really nice and bolt right up. For the price its really not worth the time to make these. Not only that but they also come with all the hardware and a very detailed instruction manual for installing them. I understand the DIY approach people have but I dont think its really worth the hassle in this case to make them at home. good luck which ever way you go

If I was living in US I also would have bought them from Core or any other company. BUT the shipping cost on these are the same as the cost of the brackets....
The the downside of living in Norway and playing with US Cars....

I still wonder if a guy could use the 1LE 12" rotor and not need a separate hub/rotor and have a better wheel clearance offset also and have a bracket for that.

C5 caliper and 12" 1LE, should be possible.

I slid a 04 GTO caliper(same general dimensions as a C5 just a different basket/bracket) on a 1LE rotor and it fit fine in the 15x8 Trans Am Snowflake wheel.
