Anyone having a draving or a template of the brackets for mounting C5 calipers to Camaro 2-gen spindle.

      Thanks!

Hej Guys, I am also looking for a drawing to make brackets for a C5 caliper for a 68 Camaro drum spindle.

what steel/aluminium do you guys recommend?

Ack -- is there really that much space between the wheel studs and the rotor holes? I'm pondering the LS1 brake upgrade, but I'm not a big fan of havin 1/8" of backlash between the wheel studs and the rotor. Almost looks like 7/16 studs with 5/8 holes. Nicer brakes though.

I've noticed that with production cars - my Intrgiue, for example. Impact?

The 98-02 12" LS1 rotor has a 5 x 118mm [5 x 4.646"] bolt circle and oversize holes so that they can be used on multiple non-domestic applications with differing bolt circles such as the 5 x 120.65mm [5 x 4.75] pattern used on the F-body.

If you're using your wheel studs in shear to keep your rotors from spinning, you may want to tighten your lug nuts. If your wheels are properly torqued, your rotors should never move between the hub/wheel interface.
      It's what I does.

      Olav,

If you decide to go the LS1 route I do have templetes drawn up for them. I think I even have a .jpg of them at home. Only issue is that they are really tight; the caliper bracket bolts are tricky to get in. Not a greate angle, but this thread has a pic of what mine look like: https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sh...ighlight=skunk

Hmm, the calipers are interchangable I believe, but the C5 caliper bracket uses 14mm bolts, where as the LS setup uses 12mm. Not sure of the spacing between bolt holes. Mine is not fancy or pretty, but it works. I a strip of 2" wide 1/4' steel for the bracket.

Don't the washers give it a custom look?

I found my templete, but looks like the mice got to it a bit. Here are the dementions:

      5" between caliper bracket holes
      7 5/8" between spindle holes
The two holes for the caliper bracket were centered between the spindle holes and 11/32" below them.

Makes a bit more sense if you look at the photos above. BTW, I drilled out and retapped my spindle mounting holes. Can't remember, but think I resized them to 7/16". Hope that helps.

Thanks! I will measure later today after work. I will probably make the brackets of 5/8" plate ( on Core3's site it says 5/8") so I dont need the washers.

I assume you are talking about using aluminum? That would be a heavy chunk of steel

Took the measurements they are the same. If I make them of steel I have to mill them to get them as light as possible. Don,t like alu for these parts. Are your rotors 13" ?

      Thanks!

      Plate is 1/2" 0.77kg/1.69lb not 5/8"

No, the LS1 rotors are 12". If the measurements on the basket are the same, just drill and tap the holes to 14mm instead of 12mm and raise their location 1/2". Actually, I think that extra 1/2" will make it a much easier fit than the LS1 setup. It was real difficult to get my big mits in there, felt like I was working on an import!

Are you buying aftermarket hubs or just cutting off your stock discs to make a hub? I did the latter and it came you nice.

I used front drum hubs, just machined down slightly. Works great too.

Found a picture on kore3 site and did some measurements. Found that I had to raise the holes. I will make my own hubs when I get a used pair of 3-gen brake rotors.Did you use 2-gen rotors ? They are hard to find in Norway and new one costs about $100 each here. I work as a mechanichal supervisor in a ship yard so machining is no problem.

      Thanks!
