I have had a couple of guys do an Air Over Leaf on their first gens but it did take a little fab work on the upper frame mount bracket and they ended up reinfocing the pan where they bolted it up. Doing an air over leaf on a car like this is really a catch 22 where as on a street rod or a cruiser you can get away with it.

In order to net the benifits of air in a leaf spring application, you need to dissassemble your leaf pack to alleviate the spring rate out of the pack. This will put more of the load of the vehicle on the airpsring which in turns improves the overall ridequality. The problem lies in performance based cars... whenever you start mucking with the leafs you degredate the integrity of the leafs ability to competantly hold the axle in position.... as a result you increase the risk of getting axle wrap and pinion preload problems unless you can control the wrap up.
