New Ride: 2002 Quicksilver Metallic Z06

      Hey guys,

As some of you know, I sold the Camaro at the beginning of May, and I've been looking for a replacement toy ever since.

After three months of searching, I purchased my new-to-me Z06 today.

The car is a 2002 Z06, Quicksilver Metallic with black interior. It had 8200 miles on it when I picked it up. The entire car, especially the interior, looks and smells like brand new. A freight train couldn't wipe the **** eating grin off of my face right now, LOL. I've dreamed of owning a C5 Z06 since I was 15, now at 21 that dream has been realized.

It's currently bone stock, but that won't last for long.

The previous owner lives in Orange County, and so we had a three hour trip up and three hour trip back. I'm exhausted, and didn't have the energy to take good pics tonight. Look for those tomorrow or Wednesday.

The quality is terrible, but here is the only pic I was able to snap quickly. I will try to get some good shots soon. My buddy is a photographer and is going to take some nice pics before I mod anything.

      Some better pics:

Thanks, Darrin!!! LOL, nope we didn't vist the chopper boys. I'm not sure how close we were in proximity to them, but it couldn't have been too far. I would like to check out their shop one day though, it's huge.

Thanks, Vince!! I most definitely will go easy--this car demands respect.

Thanks, Andrew!! My first mods will mostly be minor (read: cheap) asthetic stuff: screens for the lower valence and doors, smoked clear corner lights, black or CF "Corvette" fill-ins for the tail panel. I'm also going to paint the lower half of the rear valance black, to mimic a new Z06. It's a very popular mod with the C5 guys these days.

Thanks!! Black was actually my other color choice. I almost purchased a 580 mile black car a few months ago, but the price was too high. Nothing looks better than a black car when it's clean, but for me, that occurs far too infrequently.

Thanks, Jeff!! Actually, the insurance is slightly less than it was on my '01 Camaro SS. I've also got it insured as an occasional use vehicle, so that reduces the cost of insurance at least 50%. It's basically as close as you can get to "collector" insurance for a late model.

Better start modding it Ralph, those new LS3 2008 Corvettes will hurt your feelings right off of the showroom floor ;)

That thing got a hemi? LOL, just kidding.

I know what a 21yr old kid driving around in a Z06 looks like--some punk rich kid driving around in either Daddy's car, or a car that Daddy bought for him. Well, my Dad is a New York City Fireman, and I'm sure anyone who knows what FDNY makes, realizes that this isn't the case for me. I've been working construction and saving money to purchase cars since I was 12 years old. So, technically, I've been saving for this car since the 7th grade. It's my belief that it doesn't matter what one drives, be it a Ford Pinto or Ferrari Enzo, as long as one appreciates what it takes to earn it; after swinging a hammer in 90* heat an incalculable number of times--I certainly can.

Thanks, Tony! Looks like I am going to need some mods--I figured the LS3 C6s would be slowed down drastically in stock form by the torque management. Has GM resolved that issue?

Looks like I may need this (STS twin turbo) to take care of any C6, Z06, Viper, et. all:

Thanks, Tony!! I agree--the new Camaro is going to be hard to say no to, especially now that we're starting to get an idea of what the LS3 is capable of, with aftermarket support.
