      Hello from Middle Tennessee!

Hello, all! Newbie to this site from Middle Tennessee.

Was searching around the net for some brake info and came across this site. Great site for info. I'm hoping to visit as often as time allows.

I've owned several cars over the years - everything from a 1964 Impala to 1969 SS/RS Camaro (wish I still had that one) to a couple of Chevelles (a '69 Malibu and a '68 SS396 4-speed) to... well, too many (is there such a thing? )

My current project is a 1967 Chevy short fleet pickup. I've been working on it for, well, too long. But she's coming together. She currently has what I'm calling my 'place mat' engine. It's a not-to-far-from-stock 350 SB backed by a TH350 w/ Gear Vendors under/overdrive. It has the truck 12 bolt. I've switched over to 5 lugs from the stock 6 lug and am working on adding an eaton posi unit and rear disc brakes (combo of Caprice 9C1 rotors and Camaro 1LE calipers). It's been lowered with Early Classics front dropped spindles and springs and a C-notch kit in the rear with 6 inch lowering springs and adjustable track bar (also EC). Moved the gas tank out to the rear. Added an AGR steering box and, well, the list goes on.

I'm looking forward to hanging around here. Everybody have a great day!

Right now a (big) pile of parts, though.

Welcome from So-Cal!! Sounds like a fun project. Now all you need to know is:
      Nick R.
      69 Camaro - 383, 700R4, 12 bolt 3.55, Hotchkis, Bilstein, Global West, Morris Classic
08 HHR SS - Still Stock for now
Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?
Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?

Man, pics are almost out of the question right now. This is a ground up project and right now - and for "a while" - it's in pieces. Pics would be several piles of parts.

As I type, I'm sitting here trying to recover from a torn Achilles tendon (don't EVER do that), so it will be even longer till I get more done.

      Thanks for the welcome!

      Brian,
I figured that there were probably some folks on the board that are locals to me. I'm in Mt. Juliet quite often (more out towrads I-40 usually), so maybe we can get in touch.

My truck is down right now, as mentioned earlier (and so am I, for that matter), but I have other non-pro-touring machines to get around in. lol

      Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome to the board, we have a few members in Tennessee. If ya meet a couple guys named Bill Howell (Bill Howell on the forum) or Mike Strinich (Vintage racer on the forum), run fast as you can. These guys have a rare disease that makes you want to continuously build one car after another! They are both eat up with it I tell ya, and I hear it is contagious! LOL!

Seriously, make pans for September 14 and 15 in Pigeon Forge Tennessee for the 3rd annual Run Through the Hills Pro-Touring.com event, hosted by the aforementioned Bill Howell. Search the forums for reports from last years gathering, it is a blast.

Stay away from Bill Howell and Mike Strinich, huh. My wife might object to any more projects stronger than me. haha I seem to have a similar problem. It's not starting projects with me though. It's getting them finished.

Pingeon Forge is always a good place to go. I'll see if I can make it in Sept.

      Thanks for the warm welcome.

      Welcome!

He's right, there are several Tennessee boys on here... you'll fit right in. Bill's alright, it's his "little buddy" Bob Johnson you gotta be careful around. He ain't from 'round here.

Oh yeah.. and stay away from the suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, engine (especially the LS threads) and trans sections of this site. You'll go broke just from reading them!

      Hey Jeff,

I live 4 miles south of I-40 down south Mt Juliet rd. I try and hit Sonic on some Saturdays so maybe we will run into each other. You may have seen my car around. (Yellow 71 camaro with Pro-charged 454)
I already booked my hotel for Pigion Forge, So if you go we will see you there. It is a great time to hang out with fellow car nuts and drive the snot out of your ride. Great thing is these guys are thrashing cars that you will see in the Mag's. Also that Bill Howell guy ain't so bad once you get to know him

dual4stang, sorry for the late reply. Been a bit busy. I'll try to make it out to Sonic some Saturday soon. I have a wedding to attend tomorrow evening, but it's supposed to rain anyway.

dexia05, thanks for checking in. Welcome to the board - from one newbie to another, lol. Where are you located?
