How to make a TH-400 crossmember work for 700R4?

I had an article explaining how to mount a 700 with the 400 crossmember, but don't have it now.

Due to the mechanics unwillingness to listen, they put it an unidentified crossmember and now the rear of the tranny sits to low, tilting my motor way back so that the distributor is almost against the firewall.

I think I just need to move the crossmember back one hole but can't remember exactly and don't know what mount I need.

Does someone remember that artcle, in Super Chevy I think, or know what I need?

Hmm, not the same one, and the way I remember it, it didn't involve any welding...

Thanks though! I may have to go that route.

I just saw an ad for G-Force Crossmembers

      http://www.crossmembers.com.

They've made g-body crossmembers for years. The ad says that they now have F-body crossmembers. It does not look like they have updated their website yet though, so give em a call. Might save you a lot of grief. 330-670-5338

Did it involve changing the tai lhousing of the 700R4? That is what I did to bet the 700 to fit where a 200R4 was, I changed the tail housing to a Cadillac version (I think) & then it mounted in the same place.

Find an early to mid 80s 700R4 Caprice tailshaft with the mount on the tailshaft. That places the mount in the same place as a short shaft TH400. Bolted right up in my 1969 Chevelle.
