mounting coilovers in front of rearend

Any reason to not mount the coilovers in front of the rearend instead of behind?

Almost every suspension I see has them behind, and I'm just wondering why that's preferred over front mount. I won't have room with the panhard bar I'm planning, so I would like to put them in front.

      Thanks,
      Jerome

Front or back is fine. It doesn't matter. Usually one has more room (especially vertically) behind the housing, which is why most folks put them there.

The absolute best place would be on top of the housing but that requires even more vertical space.

In either case, think about where the rear seats, mufflers, and sway bar will go. That might "pinch" your design a bit too.
