Does anyone have or can take a picture of a Lee box next to a GM power steering box. Like to see if it can be the option to fix a header clearence problem. thanks in advance.

Lee does not make a different box, he rebuilds them as needed. The envelope dimensions will be the same.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. Hi Carl.

Im looking for a picture of a 670 box next to a GM ps box. Trying to determine (praying) if the inlet and outlet ports are closer to the frame. My headers suck big time.

You know on my stock frame i had a AGR and had no problems amazingly. then again I followed those directions to a T, but promptly sold the whole frame out from under the car.

Maybe a little, and I do mean little. I can take some measurements if needed, but the 670 was basically designed to fit in the same envelope as the old box without significant changes to the surrounding systems.

Last time I talked to someone at Lee they said it was all in the area around the bottom shank, not in the upper portion of the box at all.

You can replace your pump with something else if you want to but it`s not necessary (provided your pump is working 100%). What IS critical is that the box you use is valved for the pump you`re using. The best box in the world valved for a 1967 pump won`t work very well at all hooked to a late model Series II GM pump from a rack from a rack and pinion car. Their volumes and pressure curves are totally different. Use a pump that`s in good working order, match it to the box and you`re good to go. If you want to usea more modern box because of easier packaging with a remote reservoir, more modern seals and fittings etc. that`s cool just, again make sure the box and pump match. Lee will built and valve a box for any PS pump you can think of. We`ve had them build some really strange combinations already that worked fantastic.
BTW due to a health problem Tom Lee is only in the shop a few hours a day right now so he may be a little hard to get a hold of. He`s doing well and should be back up to speed soon. They`re still shipping custom boxes for us in less than a week though. Mark SC&C

I just bought a Detroit Speed (DSE) box for my Chevelle. Would the Lee box be significantly better, or should I just stick to what I have?

There is a good chance that it is done by Lee and just rebadged.

I'm sorry, but I've been interested in the Lee box for a bit, just had no time to research until now. I will call in the morning if I have time but I was wondering if there are any powered boxes available? I checked the ATS, SC&C, and leespowersteering.com sites but they all look like manual boxes. Thanks!

Oops, sorry... I guess my last post just shows how much I know about power boxes. It's so small though! If I understand correctly from previous threads, the 800 box is the same size as a stock 67 box right? And the 670 is just compact... I'll just call someone tommorrow

Correct, the 800 series box is the size that came in most GM cars. Because it`s more common,it`s more affordable. The 670 is a bit smaller and about 6 lbs. lighter though. On a a 3,800lb. street car that may not be a huge deal but on a race car or and early Camaro that needs just a little more header clearance here and there it`s perfect. Heck, even on the 3,800lb. car, taking 6 lbs. off here and 3lbs. off there etc. is what makes them 3,400lb. cars. Mark SC&C
