I'm sticking with the stock LS1 base engine, HP tuner fuel and spark adjustment, and Long tubes to start. From there I'll decide how much to kick it up. My 95 has the same setup and will outrun a stock C5 Zo6 in the straight, I have much more invested in suspension, brakes, and grip. When it comes down to it, brakes and suspension allow you to have more fun with cornering entry and exit. Give me lateral Gs any day and I'll show you one big grin, ear to ear.

Do you have any other mods? You're running a stock LS1 with HP tuners and Long tubes and pulling Z06's in the straight? I'm not going to call BS on you, but I'm going to say that the Z06 owner can't drive his car properly. Don't get me wrong...I think you're SOM '95 is bitchin...but it's about 400lbs heavier than the Z with less hp and inferior gearing (or are you running 4:10s or something to help the stock T56 ratios)? Stock C5 Z06 will run bottom 12s and maybe some 11.9s all day with a real good driver and conditions. I don't see how a basically stock LS1 F-body that will pull down 12.9s on a great day with a good driver is pulling him?

I think your probably correct, the guy was not the greatest driver.

My setup, 3.42 gears, 25.5" tire, 2001 LS1, T56, Spec 3 clutch, Hp tuners, Aftermarket fuel pump with wiring mod ( very little voltage drop ) underdrive pullies, longtubes, no cats, open exhaust, Slp ramair hood and airbox, pcv mod, throttle body coolant bypass, weld in Subframe connectors, Lca relocation brackets, upper and lower rear control arms are aluminum with rodends. GW torque arm, and other misc brake and suspension upgrades. I ran the quarter in Memphis on the Hrpt it was very slick, trap speeds 108. All I know is the guy kept asking me how much power I had, I have no idea but the car is very fun to drive. Oh the color is Prowler Orange.

Count me in as one of the Streetfighter gang. I just had to decide between removing the rear seat footwells or creating channels for the truck arms and braces. I don't plan on sitting in the back seat so good-bye footwells. As far as power goes, the LS1 already has the long tubes and EFI Live and is waiting on a call to Texas Speed for a head/cam combo with some ARP rod bolts for about 450-475 HP. I figure with the truck-arms, the cage, the wheels, the floating rear end w/fluid cooler and maybe one of those neato-keeno spoilers form Strreefytr68 and it will be a good mix of race car and street car.
Robert's 1969 Camaro - 2002 LS1/T56, 10pt cage, Global West Stage III front suspension, HTH truck arm rear suspension, Sprint Cup 9" full-floating rear end, Fikse Mach V 17" up front 18" in the back and still working on it...

Scogin, I wished you lived closer, I dig the way your car is coming along.

I have got to say one thing, the streetfighter is not a race car. Like Robert points out, its a mix of both. A race car is built to enter and win races. No protouring car on this site will even see a fender to fender race, much less win one. A well setup miata will likely turn better laps at most tracks. I get a kick when guys say their musclecar will outperform a new vette. Sure it will. You can have a lot of fun with these cars, but dont think bolting parts to a thirty year old car will exceed anything GMs design staff can do. You can pour syrup on s**t, that wont get you pancakes.

I think streetfighter is a street car with some race car features and a lot of ATTITUDE. Steevos car is so in-your-face it must really bewilder some old school gearheads, I love it .

A lot of times a good drive out of a corner makes it look like your car is pulling another car, your just carrying more speed onto the straight. Which is better than having a killer motor, it means your doing something right.

The final word on track performance is lap times, compare your lap times to any of the street cars that race at your track. Its very enlighteng the first time you watch a day of racing at a local roadcourse, you see some "slow" cars going fast, and some "fast" cars going slow.

And the best way to rate your first track day is

Did you have fun? (the answer will be yes)

Did you learn anything? (the answer should be yes)

Is your car still shaped the same way? (we hope so)

Agreed. When I used to time trial my 240Z I could turn better lap times than many. My $ was in the suspension including track tires. Spent alot of time learning the track, brake points and smoothness. It was a street car though with suspension, brake, exhaust and 'desmogging'.

I gotta tell you guys that my next car will be a no frills,no bling
street fighter shot in flat black..(rat rod?)
I really like the idea of not worrying about getting stone chips or the wasted time spent detailing a car.
I have come to the conclusion that what I enjoy most about these cars is the sensory overload of driving a powerfull well handling car..
The fancy paint jobs and wheels look great but I am thinking that
I am going to head towards the Mad Max look next time

      ...I see your point.

But your car doesn't have to be Mad Max ugly to Run hard IMO. You can get both, it just takes either more cash or time, or both. Plenty of cars are nice and can see the finish line first.

Sure, you won't feel as bad if you just have to take out the rattle can to touch it up.... Because it costs nothing and takes 5 minutes.

      Money, time.

On top of things, i don't think Steveo's car is ugly or that it looks unfinished. 'Still, isn't he the originator of the Streetfighter orientation.

Here's my next project. I'll have a full cage, a 7,500rpm high-compression small block, a six-speed, and not much else. My neighbors are NOT going to like this thing.

Man that's hot. Sometimes all it takes is alternative paint and some exposed rivets.
