THM400 Capacity & initial fire up technique

i need to pick up some fluids for a motor/tranny that i just put back in. i have read that a THM400 has 5-6q capacity if just the pan is dropped, and 12q capacity if the TC is drained.

when i yanked it, it was connected to the motor, and pulled at an angle that was prob at least 45*. the fluid drained right out the a-hole into a bucket and i did not measure how much it was.

so, did i drain my TC, and how much should i expect to put in? also, what routine should i do when i fire it back up? will the initial fluid fill the pan, then the TC will load up after engaged so i need to do it again?

      any help appreciated, thx.

5 qts in the pan, if its a shallow pan and one in the converter, then check when running,

My tranny recommended to me that after I put it all back together start it up and check the fluid, then jack up the rear and put it into gear, no gas just let it spin the tires at idle, then drop it back down and check the fluid again, then your good to go!
