What are these holes?
Hey guys,
This pic is of a new ZZ SBC crate motor. What are the two holes for at the rear top of the block near the bellhousing flange. There is a set on both the drivers side and passenger side, one hole is threaded and all the way through and the other is a little bigger, no threads and does not go all the way through. Thanks for any help.

06-02-2007 #2Assembly holes, probably. The small holes are used on some older Vettes to hold wire looms. They would be un-needed for you.

Thanks Hilrod, appreciate the help.
06-04-2007 #4They are for the plug wire loom clips. Chevy sells a set of plug wire looms for the ZZ engines and one goes on each side of the block here. They have a small screw in the threaded hole and a bent tab to keep them from twisting goes in the other hole.
