      GO KART questions....again...

My son is 8 and my daughter is 6. Both of them are the same size(my daughter is very big for her age!!). Anyways, I have been toying with the idea of making part of my back yard a nice dirt track(lots of room!!) and I want to get them a GO KART! Only problem is, which one do I get? Here are some of the issues I need to clear up.

      1. Which brand has the best bang for the buck?
      2. How fast is fast enough?(cant really judge fast for kids so a guestimate would be good)
      3. What safety features should I look for( harness belts, roll cage, auto cut out)
      4. What types of trannys, motors, or suspension work best in the dirt?
      5. Track will be pretty flat so not worried about going up hills.

      6. Which brands or types are the most stable?

Any help or experience in this area would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to shell out money and find it to be a waste... I am looking at some China made machines as well. Are they worth it or are they all fluff? Also looking at used machines so any brands or models to look for or avoid would be good too.

Oh BTW if anyone has a good used machine their kids have outgrown and they want to sell let me know!!

      Thanks
      Mark

when I was a young kid I had a street cart with a 5 hp Briggs and Stratton and I thought that was allot of fun. Plus they make cheep hop up kits for the Briggs engines. I put a cam and pipe on mine I think the kit cost around 100 bucks... sounded pretty cool.

i learned allot about driving with that thing. if your handy with a welder and a grinder i know they have kits out there to build your own. might be a cool father son project.

for a 6 and 8 year old a 5 horse is enough. safe yet still fun

get them some good helmets that’s about the most important safety devise. bike helmets wont cut it.
