      Baer E-Brake Cables

We installed a Baer Track kit on the rear of our '84 Monte SS. The installation of the Baer emergency brake cables was mostly straightforward, but the driver's side cable wants to meet the junction bracket about 8" farther up the frame than the passenger side cable. In order to get the cable ends close, we have to loop the driver's side cable a bit to take up some of the length. And nothing irks me more than wildly asymetrical e-brake cable loops visible from the rear of the car.

Can anyone show some pics of how their cables are routed? An A-body application should be similar to ours.
We hope there's a better way...

      Thanks for any help,
      Rick & Kristi

Check with Baer, you may have the wrong cable, they sent cables for the wrong year model with my set-up and they were too short. Called them direct and they shipped the correct ones that day.

Sounds like the same issue I had, and I posted my question on another forum. I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

In my A-body application, it pretty much came down to ignoring Baer's awful universal directions completely. If memory serves, I needed to install the caliper marked "L" on the right and "R" on the left, in order to get the e-brake assembly pointing down. Baer's instructions also listed mounting points (in terms of clocking), which I also had to ignore. I had to redrill the mounting plates to get the calipers in the right spot, which was in the front of the axle, just below centerline on both sides. About 7 o'clock on the driver's side and 5 o'clock on the passenger side. Then the e-brake cables looped around the LCA to the frame and looked equal on both sides. Hope that makes sense.

I think this thread has all you'll ever need to know with pics: http://forums.performanceyears.com/f...baer+emergency
