Just Got An '07 6.2 And Auto 6 Spd.

AND I'M NOT SURE I'M HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, just as i had decided i was gonna run that 6.0L i had lying around that i was hesitating to run after selling my LS1-4L combo ... I just ordered the headers, oil pan, mounts AND Victor JR +MSD set up for the 6.0 on thursday last week!

As i understand it, the 6.0L intake ( i just got) doesn't fit the 6.2? Problem is, now i don't want to run the 6.0L thats for sure!(to be honest i'm not sure on oil pan and headers either)

Its a DEAL .....(few hun$) that arrived this pm so i grabbed it but i also just bought a complete T56 last week to put behind the 6.0L. So now, what i'm thinking is either sell back the Edelbrock intake and get a new one (if its avail) for the 6.2 and run the manual 6 speed, or maybe the auto 6 speed? 'Would be kinda cool...

I'm going crazy! These darn deals are getting me to run in round! (maybe i should change my frequantations)

I just have a hard time getting to know those engines and want (now seems i have!) the latest. I decided to run a carb on the 6.0 to save bucks and time but now....I think it deserves to be done right....

Ahhhhhh OK, just needed to blow my fuse a bit. I'm just running around in my head and need to sit down i guess.

      Lets hear your toughts,

      A pretty much disturbed....Lead

I'd personally go with the latest and greatest.....

The L92 (6.2L) intake is a specific piece with those heads. I read here that there is a carb'd version somewhere.

      Sorry man....what?

Its aluminum and i suppose its cast, yeah. If you meant cast or forged, its cast for sure! Let me know if i didn't get that right....

Bad news is that it looks like its a 5.3 or 6.0L... Like i know anything! I really need to sit down and stop buying stuff. The thing doesn't wear badges or sticker you know....

It is an aluminum everything but has "799" Heads that, i read, are mostly used on 5.3's Aside from opening it up, what can i do to make sure what it is? It has that big Ugly Intake i had on my 6.0L when i got it. If its a 6.0L i guess they call it an L76 "Engine" as opposed to the much talked about L76 "intake".

I understand the 5.3 heads are smaller chamber replicas of the 317's on my Iron 6.0L but what do i gain from that....smaller valves and more comp as i understand it....

I just hope its an L76 alltogether at this point, so i'll have gotten an alum block and i can put my 317's on it so i gained an alum block and a trans.

Otherwise i'll see if i can 'return' it back (500$ wasn't much tough for the combo at 14 000km's but if its gonna get shelved....)

Not sure, but its not a 6.2.............. Sorry for the misinterpretation (I was mislead and my UN knowledge got me excited i guess....

If its a 6.0L alum block i'll be happy ( i need to make sure what it is now) because my coming in intake will fit!

A 6.2 will surely show up its nose in the coming days....or weeks.

I feel like a kid getting all revved up for nothing before i had checked everything....Again, sorry guy's

      Lesson learned tonight.

That's what its all about! We all learn when these stories get shared.

I'm pretty sure the L76 is designated to the intake and the heads would be L92's. They only came on the 6.2L from what I can gather. All the truck/SUV intake are big ugly things.

Hopefully its a 6L block. If you scored one for $500, that would be a huge steal. I'm not optimistic with the heads it comes with. Never heard of those.

Goatman, new sig? You 'been to Perf Y again? Just can't leave 'em alone huh?!!! Hehe....

      W. its aluminum. Just don't know if its a 6 or 5.3.
The guy said it comes from a Yukon XL (Said XL Denali but obviously not. I pulled the intake to check the ports and they are cathedral. Just not sure on the base.)

Anyone's go an idea on how to ID positively this thing?

John, if its a 6.0L i'll send you my Iron one for a VERY good deal... 'Still got that trans mount?

      :-)

the liter size should be cast into the back of the block below the pass side head under the flex plate/flywheel. you can see it without removing the flexplate

'Guess i'll add you to my Buddy list....

      Its there allright............. 5.3L

He's taking it back this time.... Its basically new still. The price is always the same anyway with this guy...It don't matter what it is to him, its just that when it NEEDS to get out, it NEEDS!!! Just gotta be there at the right time or be willing to go thru stuff like this sometimes.

Its a win some/ lose some sometimes.

I'll let you guy's know how it turns out, thanks for the help and support. (and for not rubbing it in) I'm learning on those LSx i guess.

      Thanks 'Jet.

I'll go find myself a bridge now. Good news is i'm back to my initial plan, carbed 6.0L and T-56 (i think i should stick to it, it felt good knowing where i was headed)

leadfoot, if the 6.2 is l92 from a truck it has varaible valve timing . to change it you need a 6.0 front cover , 6.0 cam sensor,6.0 cam gear. the crank gear and chain are the same part number.gm performance has a intake for l92 heads for a carb setup. and use the new mds 6012 igntion controller. not the ls1 ls6 controller it wont work

if your going to leave the engine all stock as fasr as sensors, ecm, intake fuel etc. you dont have to change anything but currently there are no aftermarket cams available for vvt.the vvt cam is diffrent then a regular ls cam.it has 1 large bolt hole in the front to mount the acuator.so if you go to a diffrent cam you have to get rid of the vvt.livernois motorsport has 3 cams available for the l92 head.hope this helps, craig
