there aren't enough Mercurys around here

Hello, I posted this under a different topic and have come to figure out that it wasn't quite the right one. I think I am glad I found this place. I will probably be trying to work out a lot of ideas in the coming months. I am currently working a 68 Cougar project. I have had the car for 13 years and it has continiously been going through changes. It is currently driveable but I have a lot of improvements I want to make to it.

It is a good looking standad Cougar with a 429 big block and c-6 auto, 9" rear with 3.70's, and tiny wheels and tires. The goal of my project is to keep it fast, significantly improve the handling (I would like it ot handle like my Vette if I can) and be nice to cruise in. I have a lot of work to do.

Hopefully I will get to know a few more folks with similar types of cars to share ideas with as I go along.

There is a problem though.....there seems to be too many Chevy's and not enough Ford stuff, and I think I am the only Merc here. This should be a good time.

Sounds like a cool project. I always liked those cars. The Chris Altson Chassisworks / Total Control stuff is pretty hot for FORD products. Get with us when your ready and we will see what fits.

Here is a picture of my car. It is the most recent but it is a little outdated. I have sold the wheels in the picture and put the aluminum slots back on.

I am trying to get away from having a "drag" car.

I am going to try to get some better pictures this week.

'Bout time, welcome to the site. If it's anything we need here is some "diversity." Can't wait to see the build. Love the Cougars even more than (sorry Mustang guys), Mustangs.

My Dad is working on a 68 Cougar right now. Should be done later this year. I posted some pics in a thread.

I posted to that thread with a couple of questions. That car looks fantastic! I will have a lot more questions.
