They are a little old school but match the car great. You did a great job with it.

Thanks Tony! I had a local shop do the rear seat. I took them a headrest from the new buckets and they matched up the material and stitching by hand.

I remember when the Scat seats were the seats to have in VW's they were the big rage in Cali, in the 80's

I like them, I've sat in them and think there very comfortable! I might even put a set in my Nova!

I didn't know they had been making seats that long. But if you look at their complete offering they do still make some van/vw type seats. I hope they last........

Thanks Andrew! I finally got a chance to test out the new steering box when I drove to/from the alignment shop the other day. I like it! It's very tight and provides a positive steering feel. I will admit that it's tougher to turn when parking or driving slow, but that should ease up a little with time. I'm 100% pleased.

Sweet thanks. I'm ordering mine on Monday then. I'm going to try and get it here as fast as I can. So I can do a couple of things to the front end. I'm going to cut the front springs a little, install the front sway bar and then the steering box.

Also when I do replace the steering box what other little parts do I need to order?

The steering box doesn't come with a pitman arm so unless you plan on pulling the pitman (requires pitman arm puller) from your current box, you'll need to get one of those as well.

Ok. Do I buy a normal pitman arm or is there somekind of high performance pitman arm?

Nope, just a pitman for a manual steering box. I picked up a Moog #K6150 from Summit, but most of your FLAPS should be able to get you the same. Be warned that the nut that holds the pitman arm on the steering box is a large sucker (1-5/16" IIRC) and requires torque spec of 115lb/ft.

They look Real good Dan! If you were going to suggest doing the brackets different, what would you do?
I want mine to sit pretty low. I have a tilt column and a stock bench seat in my 72, any suggestions for a different bracket system or do you think the ones you have are going to work out?

      Thank you.

Thanks! I went for a little 100 mile cruise yesterday and while the seats are comfortable, I still think they sit a little too high. I need to study the brackets again, but I'm pretty sure I can cut the feet off the brackets and reduce the height by a good inch, maybe a little more. The seats themselves have multiple height positions on the sliding brackets as well. So it might be possible to alter those and not use the floor brackets at all. I'm going to take it on the Power Tour as is and see how I like them after 3k miles.

No more issues with that 572 huh? I hope she is running good
for you and your going to enjoy the summer with her!

      Hey Jim,

Thanks for the kudos! Sorry I missed your post earlier.... The 572 is running fine now. I finally took her out for a ~100 mile trip this past weekend and surprisingly it got 13mpg with the 850 Demon. It's running pig rich and is tempermental as heck, so I'm going to try my 950 Holley as well. Either way she's going on the Power Tour this year. Take care.
